I can sympathise with this. After 25 years of clay shooting with confidence, I started twitching on occasional shots, and obviously missing by a long way. It's partly psychological, but there's usually a physical cause there somewhere. Trouble is, once it starts, it tends to get worse.
Gary got the right attitude here, I have suffered from the yips, and have not had them now for about a year, it's best to be honest about it, it somehow releases the tension when you have let everyone know

I used to play darts. I was pretty average but developed dartitis. It only affected me on the third dart where it was as likely to hit the floor as it was the ceiling. Such a bizarre phenomenon
I suffered from the ‘yips’ but I’m in a totally different field. I’m a professional musician (drummer) and it nearly ended my career 10 years ago. My whole left arm would lock up and all finesse and dexterity was lost. I managed to overcome it but I had to totally deconstruct myself mentally and start again from zero. My technique has 100% recovered. It’s a horrible condition and made worse when it affects something you love and do for a living.

I can go into the snooker hall one day and do continuous 20+ breaks on every visit but the next day I struggle to pot a red and never pot a colour. Lasts a week and suddenly my confidence comes back without any explanation. You think you've mastered your cueing and angles but suddenly you can't see any lines whatsoever. I've been playing EVERYDAY 3-4 hours a day.

Just pointing this out to all these commenters claiming Hendry was just lucky and everyone in the 90s was terrible (usually followed by licking Ronnie's posterior), you do realise that Ronnie O'Sullivan was playing the same tournaments as Hendry ever since 1992, right? So, according to you lot, Ronnie had no talent for a decade (the same decade he smashed in the fastest 147 etc), and he and everyone else just magically got way better all of a sudden in the early 2000s.
The majority of the top 16 of Hendry's prime was still top 16 in the mid 2000s as well. This argument of the standards shooting up in the mid 2000s is complete shite when you see people like Steve Davis getting to the UK final in 2006, being in the top 16 at 50 in 2008. John Parrot and Jimmy White, both WELL past their prime still in the top 16 in the mid 2000s. Ken Doherty was world number 2 in 2007, Hendry was World Number 1 in 2006. The weakest World Champions would actually appear in that exact period with Dott and Ebdon getting to multiple world finals and winning one each. Not to take away from them, but Dott being a three time world finalist during this "massive rise of standards" is laughable.

I have seriously lost the will to go and practise the game because of the hips. I just cannot deliver, it's embarrassing really, sometimes to a stage of 20 cues ups when normally it's 4 then was.. What's the solution??. It's bad eh, as explained in the video.
