It was like this with a large kid at my school fat as anything ate toned of stuff barley ever ran but when it came to sports day he came first every time out run every one
The best part about the barrel scene is that the dude takes out the most ridiculous amount of orcs ever by doing literally nothing. Then the bearded wonder busts out most of the barrel and fights off/kills at least six more. An absolute LEGEND.
Fun fact: The scene where he's outrunning the rest of the dwarves? Yeah, everyone's faces are real: there's a joke between the actors that Stephen Hunter wasn't going to keep up due to the fat suit, just for the guy not only keep up, but also outrunning all of them, so the WTF? face of everyone is the actors' real reaction.
Fun fact bombur and the dwarfs reactions to him catching the egg was natural. The director asked if he can try to catch the food in his mouth and he did it in one take.
Bombur was always my favorite dwarf, from the book and the movie(s) alike. One advantage to being the fattest dwarf is having the biggest screen presence (literally)!
This is the Dwarf who I based all of my video game gamertags off of. This Dwarf is a legend. Fun fact: The only time Bombur ever spoke in the movies is in an extended/deleted scene in the "Battle of Five Armies" movie!
I love how instead of his weight/size being a hindrance to him he uses it to his absolute advantage we can learn a thing or two from him about size not mattering!!!
I love how Bombur's not hindered by his weight, like he's pretending it doesn't exist to power match with the other dwarves and when he's fighting he uses it to absolutely destroy Goblins and Orcs like a heavy charging bull
Yes but unfortunately the ending would have to be where he becomes to big to walk so has to be carried around by 6 young Dwarves and I am not joking this is his actual ending.
@@ernesto.carloz I don’t think he meant death by ‘ending’ just the end of his story in the legendarium. In the Fellowship of the Ring book Gloin (Gimlis father) tells Frodo what became of all of the dwarves from the hobbit. After the hobbit Bombur got so fat he couldn’t move by himself and it took six dwarves to move him around 😂
Still would love to see a heavy metal version of all the dwarves singing their songs, with Bombur on the guitar! 😂🤘 loved the compilation-a dwarf of few words, but many actions!
From what I've gathered from the fandom, Tolkien would be dang proud/laughing his butt off over how Bombur was done so well in the movies, especially the river/barrel scene. Fun fact, that had me and others who saw it _howling_ in the theater 😂😂
I congrat you, Stephen, for your role! Playing Bombur in The Hobbit, it's a gift for us! By the way, you're so funny when James Nesbitt throw you the sausage and you fall after you eat...and you like to eat! Thanks you very much!
I love that from the outside, Bombur seems like he would be a burden on the Dwarves' quest, but upon seeing him in action, you begin to understand that despite his appearance, he is rather competent and can completely understand why Thorin would have decided to take him along on this journey.
Seriously. They could have gone many ways with it but they went the bad path. I loved the humor in his character but I wish he spoke as much as he did in the book.
He saw Beorn as the bear and said "fuck this shit im out". When one isn't scampering like a frightened hen, fear is a grand motivator for running away from something very quickly.
Bombur outrunning all the dwarves and Bilbo reminds me of that one Powerade commercial where they had a fat man sprint down the running track and win the race!
My brother: "how the hell is that fat guy gonna fight in the battle of five armies" I show him the scene where bombur's outrunning everyone Me: "there's your answer he'll be just fine in battle"
During the dining scene Stephen Hunter, who plays Bombur (aka the silent fat dwarf) had to catch a hard-boiled egg in his mouth - without the aid of CGI! Amazingly he did so on the very first take, but Peter Jackson being Peter Jackson wanted to go again to capture some alternative angles.
I wish he was given a bigger role and was a bit less of a joke character. I remember him being one of the most prominent dwarves in the book and original animated special. Since he and Bofur are brothers, they should have made them both friendly with bilbo
