@@JarrettMazza It was at the Nashua Mall in New Hampshire at the Book Store. I can't remember the name of it anymore and sadly the Mall is sorta "gone". (Infinite Photography is my other account). But it was myself and my friend Lisa Jazel who were first in line that day. We had our picture in the local paper. BEST day of my life! I still read his books today (I'm 54 now) so yeah, LONG time ago.
@@route6dee6 That's quite the tale, my friend. Curious, how were books promoted before social media and the internet. I know King did a lot of talk shows, but how was word spread. As a writer, I'm fascinated by how the industry has changed. I'd be happy to hear more.
@@JarrettMazza book stores mostly and back in those days, Magazines had Columbia House Records (and Books) Those little square cards that fall out of magazines? Yeah that. My first book from Stephen King was Cujo. My mother had to choose 5 books for the Columbia House Book Club. I was about 14 or 15 so I saw this book about a St. Bernard Dog called Cujo so my mother ordered that one for me. that was the first book I ever read by him. I was hooked since! About a year later, the movie was released. Then another year or two later out came Pet Semetary. So mostly browsing the book stores as they had new releases propped in the display windows or you saw new arrivals via the Columbia House book club cards in magazines.
I can't exactly remember HOW I knew Stephen King would be there that day. I think he was also there for some sort of Political thing as well. I just knew he was going to be there so I made sure to be there super early! We left soon after so I wasn't there for that huge crowd.
If I could have certain signatures on my first edition/printing of Pet Sematary, it would start with: 1. Stephen King 2. Mary Lambert - Director of 1989 film. 3. Elliott Goldenthal - Composer of the film's epic score. 4. Dale Midkiff - Louis Creed 5. Denise Crosby - Rachel Creed 6. Fred Gwynn - Jud Crandall 7. Miko Hughes - Gage Creed 8. Beau and Blaze Berdahl - Ellie Creed 9. Brad Greenquist - Victor Pascow 10. Andrew Hubatsek - Zelda Now all of these signatures could have been acquired at different times but a good place to start would have been during the shoot of Pet Sematary at the times when the set was open to the public. What a dream it would be to have all 11 of those signatures on a near fine first edition first printing of this magnificent book.
The only people who say that Pet Sematary is their favorite Stephen King book are people who have not read IT or The Stand... or Under The Dome for that matter.
