“Duma Key” is #1 New York Times bestselling author and fiction master Stephen King's story depicting what happens when the barrier between our world and that of the supernatural is breached. In this Stephen King interview, the famous author describes how his writing process began and how his vision for Duma Key came about while visiting the Florida Coast. Envisioning two dead girls holding hands on a beach lined with palm trees, King started to fixate and revisit the image until a chilling story unfolded. Despite the disturbing image, the story centers on various friendships and, as Stephen King describes here, he is a lover of people so, the connectedness of the characters in “Duma Key”, felt very logical.
“Duma Key” may not be one of the most famous or known of the Stephen King books, but it is as novel as fascinating as it is gripping and terrifying and one that you shouldn't count out: www.simonandschuster.com/book...

Thank you Mr. King for Duma Key. I am one of your constant readers. This is my favorite book of yours and even the best novel I’ve ever read in my life! I love the scenes Edgar paints his magical paintings. I love the scene where Edgar meets for the first time the old Elizabeth Eastlake as she enjoys her China figurines in her enormous parlor. I love the gentle and respectful way Wireman takes care of Elizabeth. I love her question for Edgar, “Do you believe in art for art’s sake?”

Thank you, Mr. King. I grew up in Sarasota and I loved Duma Key. It feels like part of my skin. I know it sounds silly, but I loved the part about Davidson Drugstore. My ex husband and then my best friend ran the Midnight Plaza location for around 30 years. This is one of my favorite works of yours, besides Dolores Claiborne.

What I think is amazing about Duma Key is that while Edgar is the narrator and he is supposedly telling "his" story, the book is really about events that occurred prior to him and that he gets pulled into. So he is just some guy, and that makes it all so much more terrifying - because I'm just some guy too. I feel like this is several different novels that could have stood alone, but they each provide a rich perspective that all come together to form a historic narrative on Duma Key (of which Edgar is only one part). I guess that is why King titled it "Duma Key" instead of "The Trials of Freemantle" or whatever.

Eddie is almost the Lynch pin that these stories revolve around. The final capture and imprisonment of the China doll is what all the mayhem led up to.

I lived in the town of Ruskin, FL for several years with my retired parents helping Mom take care of my terminal Dad. It is right near Casey Key, Anna Maria Island, etc. The beginning of Duma is so realistic it could be across any of those little nowhere bridges. Except, of course, nothing sinister ever happened...

The image of twin dead girls came from Kubricks Shining
@plaguedoctormasque8089
@plaguedoctormasque8089 4 года назад
Whoa whoa whoa hold up the two dead girls are not from Kubrick movie different Stephen King's book first did the original caretakers daughters that he killed so Kubrick had nothing to do with that story except murdering it and I agree with Stephen King if he would have left it the f*** alone it would have been an entirely different animal I hated the TV mini-series I will always love the grandiose isolation of the Overlook I prefer Kubrick Style I'm directing a movie I couldn't get into the miniseries probably because I couldn't take the guy playing Jack Torrance seriously we still wimpy

What do you expect for a flaming liberal? Also, he should never have gotten himself involved in politics, he is a writer, because of his political standing I threw away my King books, will not have them in the house.
