Stephen King is the "King of Characters," I tell people. Since I read my first King book, Salem's Lot, in 1985, no one has ever come close to equaling my enjoyment of a great story. The stories are wonderful, don't get me wrong, but no modern writer explores his characters as thoroughly, portrays them in such loving detail, as he. And as he writes, his characters just keep becoming more and more real, in depth and breadth, including their place in time and in the world, and more sympathetic to readers, When a protagonist suffers, I suffer with them, often weeping, whether I've read a story twice, or over twenty times. When a villain suffers, I cheer without guilt, but often with understanding as well. I find it personally frustrating that his books fall under the "Horror" genre. MY DIL is reading "Fairy Tale," so we recently talked about that, and she agrees about his wonderful characters. They are almost real, at least when you're reading. Holly has become a valuable companion since we met her in "Mr. Mercedes." I also encourage people to listen to the audiobook versions (my vision won't let me read large chunks of text any more, but after moving to the world of Audiobooks, I'm sold on them. Whether Frank Muller, Stephen King, or one of many noteworthy actors is the reader, I actually see MORE by listening instead. My name's not Annie, but I may be your NUMBER 1 FAN in my county in NYS.

Finally, someone FINALLY agreed to publish this Stephen King guy’s book! Keep at it, Champ. Maybe you can sell enough copies to publish a second novel!

I learned about Stephen King while serving in the Australian Regular Army from my husbands son, who at 12 was an avid reader, I cut my teeth on the book IT. This reading really took me by surprise! Of course I am always in awe of Stephen King's authentic and well crafted prose, but this reading seemed to almost step into my consciousness. Bought an 1880 birds eye maple dresser for a great price, my neighbor did some acupuncture on my knees and I can walk again without pain - and the BEST - Stephen King read from his NEW book "Holly". I was 18, when I read my first Stephen King book, it was Pet Sematary, he became my favorite author before I even finished the book, I was babysitting my BF daughter and found this book she had, that was in ‘78, I still have that book

I thought, “Well I don’t want to hear about Barbara, give us some Holly!” I had to eat those words because now I really want to know what happens with Barbara’s essay that’s not an essay! Come on, September 5th! Thank you, Mr. King. ❤

As a library worker I frequently explained to readers that you are a wonderful storyteller (and that you don’t exclusively write horror!). Thanks for keeping me entertained for so many years, not only with your wonderful books but also some of my favourite films based on your story’s.

I’ve preordered my copy and can’t wait until it’s delivered. I was late to Stephen King’s novels. I only started reading his work in 2019. However, I’ve read around 20 of his books so far. I went back. I can’t believe all these years Mr King has passed me by. Now I buy his books almost religiously and get very excited when a new one is about to be released. 👏

Just finished “Holly” last week. Loved it! What’s so terrifying is the horror isn’t supernatural.

I’ve been a fan for 43 years. To have my favorite author read to me is so surreal. As always, the words resonate. I am looking forward to reading Holly.

I abolutely LOVE this character and am so excited about a novel dedicated to her. Her character reminds me of my favorite Aunt who had social anxiety and was, well, odd. Yet so am I so I truly identify with Holly!!

To me Stephen King is the premier American writer an American treasure. Recently read Fairy Tale & it was hypnotic, intriguing & I fell into the story & the main character. Also loved Under the Dome, Cell & 11/22/63 was amazing. This man is a teller of stories.

I guess it would be trite to say I'm your number one fan. Well over 30 years ago, I was in Bangor with my sister and her husband and got directions to your house. What a joy. Bought a signed book at the bookstore in town (actually, when you signed it, you dated it a year ahead, but I can't prove that now). All that day is one I'll never forget. I know you don't live there now so maybe you live closer to Glacier Nat'l Park now. If so, come visit....you have a place to stay! At least come for a book signing. Anxiously awaiting "Holly"....I know it will be excellent.

Im on page 18 of Holly now and as always am deeply engulfed already ! Love how stephen uses his character holly to remind us of just how twisted trump is ! As a horror fan, I gotta say Stephen king will remain one of my favorite horror writers of all time and he truly got me to enjoy horror movies and thanks to him, I got that book(Holly) and god bless him for creating the greatest horror stories(like the shining, Christine, cujo etc).

My favorite Author since I was in middle school, I'm 30+ now, but still my favorite Author, love this series and how they've continued to grow since Mr. Mercedes. My favorite series however is the Dark Tower, since everything connects back to it one way or another, as Jake once said "Go then, there are other worlds then these." That is my favorite line from the dark tower series and top 10 out of all his novels so far.

It's a beautiful day here in Maine. I have my medicinal coffee and have already ordered. Holly is a fascinating character and I've admired her since she made her first appearance. I'm looking forward to learning more about her. I wish she and Dolores Claiborne would have the chance to meet. Annie Wilkes will always be my favorite female character you've created simply because of her pure evil, but Holly & Doris are favorites for entirely different reasons.
