Every King novel, novella and short-story repeats something from his first completed novel, The Long Walk. I counted about a dozen repeats from The Long Walk in Later. There were also about two dozen other repeats from other King novels. King can't help but repeat himself. I didn't find any blue chambray shirts, and no arc sodium lights, but there was a "nape of the neck".
i just read Stephen King's Later a day ago. It was pretty good even though the book was short. It felt like I was reading an Odd Thomas prequel novel or something
Great review! I read this book a few days ago, and I feel very ambivalent about it. Overall it was an "okay" read, but there was a lot of things that didn't work and just felt off about it....and he should've just left out the last 3 pages...that was completely unnecessary. I gave it a 2/5 star rating for the parts that I did like.
It’s late I’m bored me and the old lady are at odds so I’ll probably binge a bunch of these especially the DT stuff. Your insights mirror a lot of mine.
I wish I could do videos in one take. My last video had about 25 scenes and it took me about 5 takes each so basically 125 takes, which I had to then edit together. I spoke so slowly, I would stretch words, and have huge gaps of silence between words, and lots of umms and uhhs as filler. I had to edit all of that out. I probably had over 500 edits. It took me 3 days to shoot and 3 days to edit. I also had to edit our stutters, changing my mind mid-sentence, licking and smacking my lips, the sound of me inhaling, and the sound of my keyboard clicking. I also had to blur personal stuff I accidentally showed in my video and the sound of my keyboard clacking. It was an edit nightmare which took me about a week to make one video.
What does the term HARD CASE mean? I hear the term used a lot when Americans do book reviews. Over here in New Zealand the term means something that is very funny. I hope the master (SK) follows your YT channel because the info is very good. I Love your channel, your the best at what you do.
Thanks for watching! Hard Case Is a publishing company that published hardboiled crime novels. Hard boiled crime is typically gritty crime novels where the protagonist has to deal with a criminal typically associated with organized crime in a justice system that itself is corrupt. Their usually violent and gritty novels with blurred lines between right and wrong. Hope that answers the question!
I think the reveal at the end would have been better if it was left just at the initial reveal - where he left us thinking, "wait, what?" "was he really...., or...?" The following chapter where he went on trying to confirm things, lessened it for me. I think leaving it ambiguous would have been better.
@@FrostyKnives It’s not as challenging as I thought it would be. I’ve got about 300 pages left and I’m ‘enjoying’ the experience so far. I haven’t thrown it across the room yet anyway.
I was a King fan back in the day, and still like a very few of his books very much. Quite a few however are completely destroyed by sprincling and sometimes interweaving political ideology into them. It not only lessens the value of a novel, I think it utterly robs it of all genuine truth and magic. I enjoy your reviews, watched quite a few of them.
