How interesting to hear the two discuss the genesis of Into the Woods. It certainly casts light on the age-old discussion of the dichotomy of authorship between composer/librettist for musicals and opera.

Sondheim never chooses the simple way towards story telling… that was his genius!

And then Disney bought the rights and made an okay movie of Into the Woods. Apparently the Broadway version was much more suggestive.
