Stephen is right on tiger nuts Sam. They're about 25% fat. Part of the reason carp like them along with the high sugar content and trace minerals. In fact there's almost as much fat in them as there is carbohydrate!
That’s not high in fat Jim!!! Compare that to peanuts or brazils- they have over double the fat content! Depends on how you define “high fat” I guess. I certainly wouldn’t class something that was 25% fat as high fat. Edit- they have twice as much carbohydrate content as they do fat. Here is a copied and pasted nutrition table- NUTRITIONAL FACTS PER 100G Tigernuts tuber: Fat 20-25 gr. From this Fatty acid omega 6 11 - 13% Oleic acid 70 - 72% Energy 400 - 500 Kcal. Total carbohydrates 45 - 48 gr. Sugars 18 - 19 gr. Protein 5 - 5,5 gr. Starch 20 - 25 gr. Fibre 24 - 32 gr. moisture 5 - 7%
@@CarpChronicles I suppose it depends on your definition of low fat. For me it's under 10% so tiger nuts at 25% definitely aren't low fat! Peanuts are 45% so definitely high fat. Let's call tigers medium fat then we are both wrong! Enjoying the podcast by the way!
49% for peanuts according to my nutrition chart. I can kinda get behind medium fat! I’m not at all convinced that the fat is what’s attractive in them though. I’m really struggling to see that. Glad you’re enjoying the podcast. I plan to have them coming out a bit more regularly, so more are on the way…
We hear the comment so often that a certain fish has not been out for years. What people don’t take into consideration is that not all anglers report there catches regardless of the rules. I don’t report mine.
Hi I’m a fish monger, I have access to a lot of mackerel roe, I have looked in to amino acid content, could this used within a paste of ground bait and a attraction additive???
Thank you for the fast reply, and great pod cast btw. I do have also access to herring roe too, being natural amino’s there should not much of an issue with overloading, your thoughts would be an advantage, tried to find you on open social media but as yet no luck lol …
Glad you like the podcast. I haven’t looked in to fish roe but no doubt it has a good amino profile not to mention fatty acids and other nutrients. That’s odd that you couldn’t find us. If you search “carp chronicles” on instagram and Facebook we should come up
