@@davidbarber4709 I have to accept criticism over hateful comments in my boxing career I even get judged for playing roblox and fortnite I miss the days where there was no hate and criticism we were all happy accept for two things bullying and racism they have been around for generations there is a man I thank for bringing black and white lives together holding hands and that man is Martin Luther King if he was still alive today he could stop racism
Claire has the most wonderful, singing voice - so clear, crisp and with a beautiful tone. She is a better singer than many other female solo singers out there. I never understood the criticism they got back then & never will. This song is truly amazing and has always been one of my all time favourites of Steps.
My favorite of them all. She has so calm and beautiful voice. Relax me so cool. I love her face with long hair and energy she brings to my heart. So soft, true and tender like velvet.
It does sound rather solemn in places, except the chorus which sounds a little brighter compared to the rest of the song. However a beautiful song and ever since I heard this I've always found this composition intriguing
They are a wonderful group their vocals blends perfectly well together, I love how they are themselves , more than anything we need positivity in this world
I like that Lisa kept breaking the fourth fall during her lines. While everyone else was immersed with the story of the video she's the only one who kept looking towards the camera during her solos.
Making me smile down memory lane. Even though Steps were very successful in their own time, I tend to think they were underrated, much in the same way ABBA were. And yet both were absolutely brilliant.

@Marvin Morawski In the same way as people refer to 'bubble gum pop' to denote a kind of heirarchy, even though ABBA sold plenty in their own time, they were regarded as less accomplished as musicians than their contemporaries. Like... not being taken seriously. Making sales and being respected are sometimes different. I think Steps got bracketed like that, and it reminds me of the ABBA situation.
@Marvin MQZ ABBA have been through a period of re-evaluation - they were massive in the 70's before becoming really unfashionable in the 80's probably right up to the release of the Gold album.
As a 3 year old until the age of 7 I would watch nothing on our little tele except steps, I was mesmerised by them. I had a video of them singing all their songs on concert, I watched it over and over again for years instead of kids programs. My mum has videos of me, a smiley little blonde boy in his pijamas with a bowl hair cut and little blue glasses watching it until I would fall asleep. RANDOM SPEECH ON RU-vid! I just came across this video then was all wowowwowowowed.
I just discovered this masterpiece. The musical chords are absolutely gorgeous, and the group's performance is outstanding! For some reason, "Heartbeat" isn't included on my 2-disc STEPS "5-6-7-8: The Collection" CD set. Luckily, I was able to find the CD single on eBay. Had I not been able to find it available, it would have haunted me forever! "Heartbeat" is a MUST-HAVE track that I simply, well.... must have!
I was listening to this when I had a car crash. It doesn't bring back past trauma, it reminds me of the mad scramble to switch the music player off before anyone arrived to help me.
what this music video is trying to portray, is a story of love, friendship and memories. the evil ice queen wants to take all of these things away, but the power of friendship just makes them stronger. the reason that one guy goes outside alone, is because he's troubled by his past and needs time for himself, but the queen saw this as weakness and took advantage of this poor man. truly an inspiring tale.
This tune passed me by when it came out, mostly because I was all ‘don’t gimme none of that pop crap’, and into other stuff. But it has to be said, this time is a hell of a composition. It’s great.
Haha The first minute and a half was like a Folger's Coffee commercial.... And then it "morphed" into Power Rangers meets The Wizard of Oz. Thanks some damn skill right there.
The music industry broke records for big-budget music videos in the 90s. This is no exception. You can't tell but Steps weren't actually snow-mobiling down the French alps. It's all clever green screen affects that are common in massive blockbuster movies nowadays.
I remember as a kid I used to watch STEPS: The Video all the time. I knew the music videos off by heart and everything! That video was my childhood, now if you'll excuse, I'm gonna hunt that VHS down in my garage...
Awesome feel good tune, when we were all younger than we are now, some called it crap at the time but nostalgia rules, I'm not afraid to say that I shed a tear when I hear this, ....the old days, the old days....

Jodie Mcloughlin I wasn't born in the 90s I was born in 2003 but I like steps because my mum used to listen to steps all the time but she grew out of them and now I like them and I can't get enough of them they're so awesome just like you said steps forever
Here I am just longing for you once again If your arms would only let me in You'd see the mess I'm in I have dreamed your heart will come and rescue Oh baby set me free Only your love can win You are only a heartbeat away Baby and my love one day will find you it will remind you When it comes your way oh when it comes your way Here I am my heart in the palm of your hand Your every wish is my command Darling understand If I live a lie Then all my dreams are doomed to die Oh baby just let me try To have my heart's desire You are only a heartbeat away Baby and my love one-day will find you it will remind you When it comes your way, oh, when it comes your way Oh but my feelings are in vain Just like the feelings they won't go away My love remains In my heart we'll always stay You are only a heartbeat away Baby and my love one-day will find you it will remind you When it comes your way, oh, when it comes your way You are always in my heart to stay baby Love comes once in a lifetime I thing it's high time Our hearts beat as one Our hearts beat as one
Who ever wrote this song is at higher level conscience i see the light hearts beat as one love remains we are one one love one conscience one life in this vessel compassion and righteousness love to all !!!
Yes i know Steps were only known in the UK, however thier songs would not sound out of place on any Disney films or tv shows, any American tween films or shows, anything based on Barbie or Sabrina The Teenage Witch. That being said, both British and American rom coms I could definitely imagine hearing thier songs on. Edit: often loved and found the composition of this song interesting. In hindsight they remind me of BTS and BlackPink, something about them & thier sound
Why do people have to obsess over who was the best singer? Claire has a great voice but Lisa's warm vocals in the bridge at 2.45 make the song lMHO along with Faye's high harmonies.
Such a great song always loved this I become a fan at 17 now I’m in my 40s now still love this every Christmas they play this . You are icon legends best group from the 90s by far in my opinion .
You are right they is nothing like steps its they music and songs I seen them 4 times in concert and meet them at they 20th anniversary concert they are so lovely to meet it made my dream come true i miss a hospital appointment To meet them
This song makes me sad but I love it all the same. The line love comes once in a lifetime especially gets to me as some people are lucky enough to find love more than once and some never like me 😢 💔
This and It's the way you make me feel...my top two! Can't beat Brits pop bands.....so many great bands, song writers, composers come from there that help me growing up through the 80s and 90s.
