Loved seeing this episode today, wonderful memories. The strange thing is, Wilfrid Brambell was such an accomplished actor , I bet he was a fantastic Latin American dancer also!
1:18:05 This is the end of the 1991 BBC Video logo so it’s really being faded away (because the music is ominous) and turning into the then-current logo on November 3rd, 1997
Mrs Richards: "I paid for a room with a view!" Basil: (pointing to the lovely view) "That is Torquay, Madam." Mrs Richards: "It's not good enough!" Basil: "May I ask what you were expecting to see out of a Torquay hotel bedroom window? Sydney Opera House, perhaps? the Hanging Gardens of Babylon? Herds of wildebeest sweeping majestically past?..." Mrs Richards: "Don't be silly! I expect to be able to see the sea!" Basil: "You can see the sea, it's over there between the land and the sky." Mrs Richards: "I'm not satisfied. But I shall stay. But I expect a reduction." Basil: "Why?! Because Krakatoa's not erupting at the moment ?"
Totally not PC but really funny. It a shame the times have changed so much that we cant say things that make people laugh. Sexist, Racist and probably another dozen things that would offend these days. I would love a return to the old days instead of todays usual turgid offerings
@@theculturedthug6609The whole 'tragi/ comic' premise is him being stifled by their co-dependent relationship & failing at life. So he can't succeed or achieve anything because that contradicts the whole basis of it.
