John, the Lickity Log splitters should not "hammer". It just means that your adjustable orifice is not set correctly. This is the little valve near the auto shifter. If it's open too much, the shifter bounces back and forth between high and low speeds. Coming back into high speed should be a smooth transition. I believe you have a manual and this adjustment is covered. It's referred to as the banging effect and not good for the shifter. Turning the valve clockwise (closing) will slow the shifter as it returns to fast speed. Sorry, couldn't help myself. Just want to see these splitters work as best they can. Enjoyed the video.
