Stereoscopic 3D view of Earth rotation

The video, captured from Google Earth, which unfortunately did not complete a full rotation, is a stereoscopic 3D video. Relax your vision so that the screen doubles, and adjust your vision until the two frames overlap in a third, middle frame. If done correctly, the middle frame will appear in 3D. It is easier on a smaller screen. It’s best on a cell phone held vertically. The center of each image should be about an inch apart. Not good on large computer screens or iPads.
This is another experiment inspired by Steve Reich's Clapping Music. It involves a repeating rhythmic/melodic pattern that follows the circle of fifths with each repetition. The pattern shifts one eighth note with every harmonic change.

i have this weird eye ability where i can move one eye ball independently, which i just learned that its called "strabismus" but i have it totally under control. i had it since childhood. that makes it easy to see the images in this video in 3d. thank you for posting this, i never knew there exists this kind of videos.

Thanks! That’s cool. I got really in to making these sort of images a few years ago. If you hold two cameras side-by-side you can create this sort of picture.

There are a lot of videos like this, but you have hunt them down.

I just tried this ..Unfortunately I see the globe as concave 🤷‍♂️

And when minimised as convex ….Weird

If it’s on your phone, keep it vertical, try to stare at something about three feet away. Then move the phone into view.

I find looking so you see 3 globes. And pay attention to the middle one. Then give your eyes a bit to lock it in. Neat convexed earth ball🌎

Must be for phone. I had to put in mini player on pc to see it.

The image appears concave, like staring into a bowl.

Sounds like you are crossing your eyes. This is not that kind of 3D.

@@DougMcDave if you put your hand up to your face, you don’t look at it, you look past it, right? You’ll see two hands. Look past the screen (easier the smaller the device is) until the earths combine. You will see two other earths to the sides, but don’t focus on those

There's two different ways of doing stereograms, parallel view and cross view. With parallel view you focus your eyes behind the image, with cross view you focus your eyes in front of the image. This is done as parallel. You're probably used to cross view.

Are you looking on a phone or a computer monitor? It's easier to do on a phone. If you're on a computer you can zoom out the browser window with CTRL+minus.

@@Mark73 Ah! When I use it not on full screen, but small screen, then it works. Thank you 😊👍

For some reason it's extremely blurry now matter how hard i try to make the 3d image clearer

The images are reversed and the effect is anti-3D

@@Mark73 Wow, you're right. I didn't know about the parallel method and it took me a while to get it right. Thanks!

Too far apart to achieve with relaxed eyes. Only possible with crossing the eyes which is a) painful b) the image is concave.

It seems to work best when the center of each image is about an inch apart. As in using a cell phone held vertically.
