Yeah! It’s so impressive! He first talks about how and what would happen if the world stopped to how atomic clocks are the most accurate source of time and how they work! He’s so impressive, right?
I first saw this 8 years ago and unfortunately the most memorable part that stuck with me was the ragdoll physics of the animated city ravaged by a halt in rotation. Don't get me wrong, the physics and astronomy are done very well, and I've appreciated it more as I've gone on in my education. The the shear shock factor of giggling at something you really shouldn't, is all too memorable.
@@Nanobot_Swarm ngl i dont even remeber that but it was meant to be like "There is zero pictures of earth from space" just no. i just worded it wrong lol also i think i might have been slighly stupid when i commented that mb
it's confirmed by science that what's funny is a strong trigger for thinking and gets stuck in our heads the longest. That's why you see most ads in all sorts of products appeals to funny stuff. That's why it was memorable to you
I like how this guy has extreme videos like "what if the sun disappeared" and "what if the earth stopped spinning", and then has videos covering the less extreme topics like "is cereal a soup"
to be fair, the exact definition of cereal is crucial to a cereal loving nerds moring routine. without that definition, a nerd won't be able to eat his cereal breakfast, because he wouldn't understand the concept of it. and without breakfast, nerds won't be able to keep our world running, with catastrophic implications inbound ranging from minor international conflicts all the way up to major family desasters. now, wether or not cereal is a soup doesn't matter, as long as the nerd knows his stance on the topic. and without vsauce some nerds won't even know about the topic. let that one sink in. vsauce is love, vsauce is life, both metaphoric and literal in every sense 🥰
4:18 it was at this moment he changed the topic. He finished the question and talked about time, second, cesium and other stuff. The question ended got answered in 4 minutes time and got into almost unrelated topics. He tricked me into learning what i didnt want to learn. This is why I love you vsause.
I just love your videos The way you explain things could not be more perfect And the background soundtracks are top-notch, they remind me to like the video You are Incredible man! Please start making these type of videos again. I can't wait any longer
Crazy seeing vsauce after so long. I actually saw his mom working as a crossguard at my middle school and she was so sweet! Also very supportive of him and his channel :D
@@HerohammerStudios Yes , to an extent I understand. The key to keeping interest is remaining unsaturated. I can get tired of most things with overexposure.🇺🇸👍🏻
This type of concept of how we conveniently move along with the motion of the earth makes time often think: how convenient it is for life, that momentum exists. Think about how the universe could have unwittingly just had all properties of physics in place except for momentum, and we wouldn’t have had a surface to stand on. Heck, planets would probably not even form under that condition. Which then makes me wonder, would life always find a way anyway?
I love going back and watching Vsauce now because it’s so nostalgic. I remember around 7-8 years ago in science summer camps they would put on Vsauce at lunch. I love that he’s still posting!!
Please thumbs up so that Michael can see this! Can there be a planet that is at the size of a star? How huge can a planet be? What is biggest planet found? How is the life support there? Is there any possibility for a planet to have approximately "same" size as its sun? Ofcourse I could just google all this and get some awesome information. But seeing Vsauce explain this is always FANTASTIC!!
VY Canis Majoris is the biggest planet discovered. It would take over 400 years in a plane traveling 300MPH to go around it. No one could possibly comprehend it's size. Generally the bigger the planet the least inhabitable it is so when scientists are searching for earth-like planets they tend to search for planets in or around the same size as earth.
He meant to represent that the bench is kept exactly on the pole so it won't be affected but all the other things are not on the pole and so they will be.
Feal the fear and do it anyway! If you want to live the impoosible you have to think it first! Have you seen the film Intersteller and the docking scene? What you doing? Docking! Seems fitting cos of the content of the vid!
If there really was a Transporter as in Star Trek, it would need to be calibrated to beam you to your spot on the planet at the same speed as the planet's rotation. Otherwise, you would be killed by the speed of the planet and the objects on it pummeling you.
@mbgrafix (I'm writing this not to argue at all and It has nothing to do with this comment. I just wanted to see if RU-vid is censoring me. I made a comment correcting a mistake that vsause made about what would happen if the earth stopped spinning and I am the only one that can see the comment. I made it on another channel called gokuhawks14 and I am reposting it as a response on this channel. let me know if you see the comment and give me your opinion of it.) from gokuhawks14 "(@2:38) If the earth stopped spinning you would have 6 months of daylight and and another 6 months of night time. Vsause got this wrong. For the earth to have a full year of daylight it would have to be tidally locked with the sun so it would have to be revolving around the sun at the same rate that it (spins). So if the earth stopped spinning we would not have 365 days of daylight more like 182 days of daylight and then another 182 days of night time." Thanks in advance 👍
If the transporter coordinate system is based on some intergalactic grid, (which is problematic since the universe is expanding,) you would need to compensate for rotation. Assuming the coordinates are relative to the ship, (which is problematic as well,) you would not need to compensate if you were being transported from a ship in geostationary orbit.
@@Purple11011 If you are transported from a geostationary ship, you would still need to calculate the speed of the spinning planet at the exact point on the planet being beamed to, because if you used the speed of the ship, it is going much faster than the surface due to the fact that the ship is much farther from the surface, and thus must travel faster in order to match the rotation of the planet. In like manner...the first song on a 33 rpm record is spinning much faster relative to the needle than the last song. This is because the first song which is next to the outer edge of the record must travel farther than the track on the inside which has much less distance to cover in order to make a full rotation.
@@mbgrafix @mbgrafix Yes, you are correct. However, my point is, if the transporter is using its own local coordinate system, and the ship is maintaining its orientation relative to the surface, (which it always seem to do, in films,) then the surface would be stationary relative to the ship and the transpoter. Realistically, the ship would not maintain its relative orientation with the surface, in which case this debate is irrelevant, but this does not appear true in Star Trek (or most space films) And this is all assuming each transporter uses its own relative coordinate system, in which the transporter itself always remains at (0,0,0)
Why is music entertaining to us? How can some chords sound happy or sad when they are just vibrations in the air? And why are notes always the same distance away from each other?
omg please dont make this more uncomfortable then it has to be cx what ahppened to dorry when she just kept swimming. she fokin got caught in a fokin jelly fish m8
The last sentence of this video, dear Michael, before saying thanks for watching etc, is one of the best you ever put in a video. We don't know what life is, and we don't know what time is.
That could be a movie tho Some astronauts are in space when suddenly, the earth stops spinning for a couple hours. The story goes on as they return to the planet only to find total destruction. Trying to find survivors, they stumble upon something that was a complete shock to them. Am leaving this on this cliffhanger. Won't u want to watch a movie like that?
Sadly enough, they already found it. I already ran into a comment with ~70 replies, 1/3rd of them from a flattard and the other people doing what normal people do But what IS normal? *Vsauce music*
Sometimes I have that's my phone is on 2:37 than 2:38 and back to 2:37 something like that but maybe it's just me because I'm bad with numbers or it's my phone
I found a song called that lol: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-DYniUYYE4CM.html&ab_channel=Archomir this reply is meant to be on a different video, wth?
I remember being recommended this video when I was just 13 years old and was still getting acquainted with RU-vid. Thank you Vsause for being the first RU-vidr I ever cared for.
This is pretty similar to what happens in the anime/manga, “Dr. Stone”. Everyone on Earth turns to stone but some astronauts still in space were unaffected.
