I actually picked up a Sterling Mariposa partly on your original review from a few years ago. I think it’s a great guitar. I love the neck. I bought the laser etched pick guard from MM and now it looks pro.
You can order the pickguard from them directly??? I really wanted to revisit this guitar because my initial time with it was very limited, it was better than I remember once I got it dialed in and happy i helped you get one
I just bought one (it’s coming today and I’m excited to finally play it!) Did you have to do anything to get the pickguard to fit? I really want to get one for mine!
Check the base of the neck where it meets the body and make sure there are no hairline cracks before you do buy it, if it has one find a different one.
I like simple guitars with unbound necks! It's locked in my brain that all the fancy attributes on guitars, take away something rather than enhance it🧐 Looking forward to monday when my Jet JS-800 arrives: a budget(469.-) take on a Suhr with a humbucker in the bridge and a single in the neck, 1 volume pot and a 3-way toggle, hardtail bridge with block saddles! John if you don't mind me asking, since you've had it for a while have you noticed anything with the fingerboard losing the dark color if you use lemon oil to clean it?
Unforunately I already have a guitar that's gonna be the counterpart to the jazz master, a reverend 290. But damn, I really want this. Perhaps I should get that jazzmaster.
Those pickups seem to be very bright and jangling as for the humbuckers. No mud, sound good, clearly and punchy both: clean and distorted. I really like it. Thanks for this testing. Cheers.
I'd agree it's got a good punch and can clean up decent enough, much more so than other humbuckers I've tried in guitars around this price. Thanks for checking it out!
I've had one for about 8 months now, and have nothing but good things to say about it. I really love mine. I set mine up for C# Standard tuning. I've been thinking about buying a second for regular standard tuning as well.
Made it sing! Great playing and tone, dude. I picked one of these up a few months ago and couldn’t get around the QC issues with my specific guitar. It was shimmed from the factory with a folded piece of sandpaper and the string alignment was off. But it was a great guitar otherwise and I’m still trying to find a good quality iteration of it.
It's funny you say that, I ended up parting with it pretty quickly because of issues that were also QC related - it's a shame because it is a fun guitar to play and does sound pretty good.
Best tones at 8:41! Sounded like some Nirvana. That Pink Taco rips! Very unique looking guitar. That crack is no bueno though. I love your rhythm playing for demos instead of all the same blues licks most people play. Edit: kinda reminded me of the Troublemaker tone wise 🤔

I have been using a hybrid setup and the attenuator has been an absolute life saver for playing guitar, but it's still not going away just learning to live with it.
It would be simple to put pickup rings on it and hide those cavities. Easy peasy. It's relatively inexpensive and wouldn't hurt resale value that much later down the road if you upgrade.

Josh Turner is a fantastic young performer, my old Guild is broke in with 41 years of playing, but it's huge and the older I get the more it's size and familiarity bug me! I can't justify any new electrics till I get another acoustic and like you said it's a good price for a nicely appointed and good sounding instrument. But I'll be looking out for that Mariposa. If you sell it I might be tempted! Peace man.
