Thanks for the demonstration - I was unsure how to assemble it. Just bought one at WalMart. I am one step further prepared for our next windstorm power outage in the desert. Thanks again.

Hello MDPrepper, we enjoy your videos a lot. That is one of my favorite back packing stoves. Only difference is I have yet to use it with canned fuel. I use wood in it and it produces a lot of heat really quick. Thanks for your videos and your advice.

Great vid. Chaffing fuel does work good in the Sterno folding stove.. I get the 6 hour chaffing fuel at Sams Wholesale. If you don't have a card, you can use a temporary card and pay the upcharge. Costco does not sell it. A case of 12 at Sams costs about 14 bucks, about a dollar 20 a can. Sterno is okay, but it evaporates over time. Some stores will take it back with receipt. The can with screw on top can be hard to come off, but channel lock pliers will remove it. I use an alcohol stove for cooking and use the Sterno stove/chaffing fuel as a warmer. If you warm half a 16.9 ounce water bottle on your body next to your skin then pour the semi warm water (8 ounces)into a small covered sauce pan, the water will come to a boil with chaffing fuel. Now a days its real easy to bend half a 16.9 ounce plastic bottle and place it in between your upper thigh and your belt loop in your pants. Or you can wrap your full bottle with black electric tape, duct tape or attach it to the top of your backpack and on a sunny day it will become quite warm when you get to your destination. Thanks again for the informative vid. ATB, Jb.

A Svea or Trangia military stove fits and works fine in the Sterno stove. The Sterno cans can be refilled with denatured alcohol or methanol, it will even gel in small amounts.

Good review, I have this stove, bought it after I saw a video with someone cooking breakfast on it after a snowstorm bug-in situation. Thanks for posting.

I like to use the Velcro hook & loop double sided "tape" that comes in a roll and you can cut it to any size you need, instead of using rubber bands which tend to get old and break!

I wasn't talking about using a pre-made stove, if you've got acres of replenishable woodland then you can adapt a wood burning stove to be a boiler, cooker and for generating electricity (pressurised boiler with steam turbine). They are also useful as a heat source for distilling ethanol/methanol/Fusel/1,2.Propanol etc. for fuel/medical/drinking. They do weigh a ton but they sit in the shed until the grid goes down and then you have a virtually unlimited source of heat/electricity etc.

The starburst pattern adds strength to the otherwise flat metal. Sort of like corrugated steel but in a radial pattern so there's strength in all directions.

Oh, just wanted to share some info for yah... Did you know you can "refill" your Sterno Gel ? After using it, you pour Methanal Alcohol back into the sterno gel. It just absorbs the methanol and is ready for reuse... Just thought I'd share that information with you, just in case you didn't know. Like yourself, i enjoy these stoves and using sterno or chaffing fuels with them. Peace bro.

This'll be even better when there's no sterno left. Use a wood stove.

i can never make it to the end of your videos. why does it take you 9 minutes to light a sterno can and show how the stove folds. seriously i would watch more of your videos if you just cut to the point.
