I just received my Stetson Whippet Fedora via mail order. Was surprised how thin the brim is, like paper thin, and was wondering if that is the way it is supposed to be? I assumed the brim would be somewhat thicker.
No, back when the X system was standardized the more Xs meant there was more beaver, now its just a marketing ploy for companies to say "Hey! Look! This hat is a high amount of Xs meaning it's high quality!" Stetson still makes very fine hats though.
