Haven't worn a cowboy hat since I was a kid, but father always wore one. I remember him having a Stetson when I was younger and never forgot the horse drinking out of his hat. Dad passed last year and I got his hats, but just too small. I looked and found a Skyline 6X in granite and said that's for me. Tip of the hat to Dad.
That’s an Awsome way of keeping your Father’s memory and now you can start wearing a hat more often and know why your Father always wore one. Thanks for this comment and supporting the channel.
I bought the 6x skyline last year in chocolate. By far the nicest hat I've ever owned (most expensive as well) and I absolutely love it, worth every penny. Haven't really worn it in wet conditions of Michigan but will soon. Just enjoying its newness. I wish I bought a nice hat like this years ago instead of wasting my money on handfuls of cheap ones. Good review, thanks for sharing.
Worn it several times last winter and holds up great. Snow falls on it and melts but always drys out like new. Great time to get a felt hat. @xscorcher9071
It’s my pleasure like i said it’s not a bad hat for the money but if you could spend the extra cash buying an American hat co is definitely worth the extra.
I have a lariat black felt 5x and it fits great. I started wearing cowboy hats last year and am still getting used to it. I have an American hat co Tuf Cooper amd it’s real nice. They probably look bigger on me to myself than to other people. It’s hard to get used to it from wearing baseball caps. I’m not a cowboy by way of living or working on a ranch but I did high school rodeo way back in the day and I just like western wear and the meaning behind what cowboy stands for. Maybe I’ll wear my hats more this year but will always be wearing my wranglers, Anderson bean boots and a buckle of some sort. Great video friend. Subscribed.
That is awesome to hear my friend. And you definitely don’t have to be a cowboy to wear a cowboy hat or to dress western. It is a wonderful style that is definitely better and more appropriate than what a lot of these kids are wearing nowadays and it preserves the traditions and the industry of western wear. Thank you so much for your support. I really appreciate.
I'm a stetson hat addicted - I have 18 stetson hats I'm almost ashamed to say it, I have 3 presidentes , I love all of them but the patron is by far my favorite I have them in all the colors, the skyline is a good hat I have 4 in different colors, there's other companies that are very good but stetson is the the one I like, God bless America.
Great hat my friend unfortunately that is something we have to deal with but it’s not the worst defect a hat could have and Stetson makes great hat’s but American hat company is my favorite hat’s and that is what I mainly wear. Thank you for your support sir I actually got a hat related video coming tomorrow.
Greets from Germany. Yea enthusiasm is awesome, looking forward to move to the US, love is an understatement. I must be born in the wrong place. Telling you my heart and soul can’t be wrong. Keep on cowboy 🤠 much love and greetings to all of you real people out there.
I liked your review. I have very recently bought a gray Skyline and have only worn it around the house, so far. I have already noticed that the logos on the inside have started to wear off and the buckle is a little janky on the band. I’m a little disappointed. It is, otherwise, a beautiful and comfortable hat.
Honestly, if you want any kind of quality, I would go with American over Stetson. It’ll cost you a little bit more, but you will have a much better hat and you could have it shaped, however you want. I would get an American 7x over even a 10 or 20x Stetson.
6x is the lowest you want to go in a stetson hat, 100 x is unbelievable but the El patron 30 x is just perfect , the skyline is very good I'm 71/8 but I got some in 7 1/4 , the leather sweat band will shrink over time depending on how much you use it and if you use it in the rain, my oldest stetson is 38 years old and still good it the rancher 6x .
I was buying these cheap hats (being in the uk) not many choices over here and your right they are rubbish. But after seeing this youtube video i went on some usa sites and found a skyline 6x from Danny's western wear (the only place that had one available)so i ordered it.I haven't received it yet as its in transit to the UK and i can't wait to receive it.Thanks for the advice on this hat it looks great im also wanting to change the buckle any ideas where i can get one like yours any advice would be much appreciated thanks. Great video by the way 👏
I’m glad to here the video helped you out. As far as the buckle you can find them pretty much anywhere along with eBay but I have since sold my Stetson as I stick with American Hat co and love the factory band so when you get your Stetson I recommend you stick with the factory band but if you want to buy a better quality hat in the future I will definitely recommend American hat co. Stetson quality have dropped recently along with many other hat company but American is always improving and are the best hat on the market. Worth every penny.
There is only a couple of teenagers that shapes hats in South Florida well I’m a full grown man and I’m the only other person that I know shapes hats so let me know.
I’m currently collecting the Buffalo collection line simply cause Buffalos are my favorite animals. So anything with Buffalo is gonna get my attention, and plus I think it’s good enough for the price. I am looking to spend more on one higher grade Stetson for special occasions.
Good. I will tell you this though if your looking to spend more money on a nicer hat buy an American instead of the Stetson and you will get a much higher quality and finish and will be much happier with it in the long run.
@@pcrealty you should be able too just make sure the sweat band and liner is out of the way it’s a bit harder with a leather band but shouldn’t be a problem
I have been trying to decide between this and a Resistol Santa Clara. When I looked at them in person the only difference I could tell was the band. They felt the same and were both 6x and made by Hat co at the parent company level. They have the same crown and brim and they are the same price and I keep going backs and forth. Do you have any guidance that you could give that would help me pick one over the other?
So I’m looking at the Santa Clara now and really the brim shape is a littler different but not that much and realistically You could make both hat’s what ever shape you like besides that they are both the same exact hat made by the same company and it all comes down the the band you prefer the liner you like better and the brand you rather have . I think the band on the Stetson looks a little bit more traditional and therefore nicer but it’s really up to you as far as hat feel look and quality it will be exactly the same my friend.
How is the fit of stetson for people who have a long oval head shape? I've heard that they are more rounded so I'd have to try to reshape it myself. I did this with my Cody James 3x wool hat but not sure I feel comfortable with doing it to a more expensive hat.
I am long oval as well and after stretching it felt pretty good but no wear near as good as my American Hat co the Stetson is good for the money but if you can spend a bit more money even just for the 7x you will get a better fitting finishing and overall better hat out of the American where you would be happy you made the choice of spending the little extra.
Nice I will take that in to consideration. The other hats I'm looking at are Resistol 72 6x chocolate brown and Twister 6x from The Cow Lot. Kind the think the Cow Lot is maybe going to be the winner because it's an open crown hat they will customize the fit and shape for me.
So I love the CHL shape but when trying to shape it I realized that do to the small 4 inch brim it makes it hard to look good for me I would say if that’s the case I would go for an American hat company 41/4 or 4.5 inch open brim but it couldn’t be done for me it’s not something I want to do on this hat I am actually selling this hat for that reason but it really depends on your facial structure so if you want it and your 71/4 it’s available
Do you think it would be more worth it to just save that extra money and buy an American hat for the wider brim to have more options for shaping along with the better quality?@@cowboybootshatsandwesternl9663
@@oenvy3407 yes I will always recommend saving up to buy the American. I honestly wish I could be in your shoes and do it all over again with the knowledge that I have now and buy the American you will not regret it as a matter of fact you will be so happy you did. I actually made a video touring the American hat company factory if you want to watch it on my channel and check out the process. They are simply the best ➕✖️🇺🇸
Well I was just wanting to talk about the hat and features and since I shaped it differently it would not be the same look as you would get when receiving the hat but if want to see how it looks check out this video where I am wearing the hat. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-03lmTvA4X5c.html
Well they alter In prices all the time but I purchased it from country outfitters and you can actually get discounts code if it’s your first time purchase. Thank you for your support my friend by the way a new video is coming out tomorrow about my favorite hat brand if you want to check it out before purchasing this one. www.countryoutfitter.com/stetson-mens-6x-skyline-black-fur-felt-cowboy-hat/096D30.html
I completely understand my friend grab the first felt from resistol that you can’t afford right now and look forward to buying even a better hat than the skyline when you can jump in to the American hat company
@@cowboybootshatsandwesternl9663 Thank You. Heading to Texas early October for a Dallas game. Getting a hat this time to bring home. If your from the area, would you be able to recommend a place I should go to get one. Thanks again
@@jimmydorans6144 yes sir come January I will be living in Fort Worth Texas and I can recommend 2 places the best hat store in Fort Worth stock yards and Jobe’s hat’s also located in Fort Worth and I would definitely recommend an American hat company hat’s they are the best you can get, Jobe’s has those and other brands the Best hat store only sell’s American but you won’t regret buying that brand if you check out my channel I did an interview video with Jobe’s hat’s of him shaping and I have a few videos showing how amazing American hat is and a factory tour and process of making hat’s. @@cowboybootshatsandwesternl9663 Thank you again for your help. Greatly appreciated ! They both look like great stores. Was doing research the last few days and a lot have mixed . Have a good/safe move and enjoy Texas !
Stetson is no LONGER the QUALITY it was 50 years ago when my granddad wore em to work horses on his ranch. They were the best you could get. NOT ANYMORE. AMERICAN HAT CO. IS THE PREMIER HAT COMPANY.
