I work out of Heathrow and the airport extras are set at £2.80 for every job picked up from the terminal ranks. Depending on which terminal he was picked up from the m4 and Kew bridge would have been a bad choice let alone Hogarth roundabout. If the driver was new then he should have realised his mistake and knocked money off the fare. If it was a rogue taxi driver then he should ve taken his details and reported him. We don t need drivers like this giving us a bad name somthing here definately does nt add up. Normally you would have your tag scanned by a Marshall and get 1 hr in total from when u get your tag scanned to get bk to the terminals in order to avoid the feeder park. This driver was either new and made a mistake or was a fake taxi driver being lent a cab from his mate which has been known to happen. Either way we need the public to help us stamp out this type of behaviour as it gives the rest of us a bad name. I'm sorry to hear about your friends journey is he sure it wasn t 2.80 extra and not 12.80 extras??? Twickenham can go around the £40 mark depending on traffic and which terminal he left from. Either way somthing went wrong here and the driver should ve been reported. £75 can get you to St. John's Wood or Waterloo so should definately not have cost this much. If only your mate had reported it we can stamp out this bad behaviour. Thanks again for kicking us honest working cab drivers while we're down instead of just reporting it officially and getting the matter delt with properly how it should be. There is a system in place at Heathrow that I don t always agree with but 95% of the time the customers seem happy and the cabby s are nt left working long dangerous hours like our minicab counterparts. Please do us all a favour and report this to the appropriate authorities instead of airing a one off occasion like this on your show. But then again we know who you advertise for on your show and we know the size of their wealth can help persuade anyone to put us in a bad light. When were gone they will jack up prices like you won t believe but by then it ll be too late. good luck and remember where an accusation like this is involved numbers should be written down and Tfl should be the ones to report too. With a friend who has no evidence to back up his claims 🤔 this could be journalism at its worst or just plain lies to keep us under that bad light. How hard is it to report the driver and price on the meter nowadays we have 3 identification numbers on every taxi there are two in the bk that can easily be written down during the journey while sitting there and if he had a phone of any sort on him he could ve taken a picture of the meter at the end as back up evidence and of course got a receipt . Instead it skips the authorities and makes it straight to national radio while the rapes,crashes,assaults and deaths that happen in minicabs are covered up. So glad I believe in karma and if this is a porkie being told to help tarnish us like other people like to do which I really hope it isn t then whoever s at fault here will one day face their just deserts. Overcharging is rife in the Black cab trade, with the 30 minutes return law at Heathrow airport if you ask the minicab offices around the airport they will tell you how the Black cab drivers will pick up at heathrow and drop the customer off near a minicab office if the customer isn't going far, and the poor customer has to get a minicab to get home or wherever they are going. Thats just one of the tricks. Racism is rife, if you are a hint off white you have no chance of hailing a taxi yet 90% of the money they take is from foreigners. The non-white drivers are the sameWhat is point of knowledge when 99 % of the Taxis have a satnav proudly displayed on the dashboard.
