I seen Steve Earl, Jackson Browne Starwood Amphitheatre in Nashville sometime in the early 90s. Always been a fan. Google heartworn highways check out the 21 year-old if that Steve Earle. Him Townes Van Zandt Guy Clark Rodney Crowell and a few others passed the guitar. It's well worth your time. After you get past the first 4 or five minutes and let you watch the entire thing. Charlie Daniels, David Allan Coe probably filmed in 77 Maybe.
great seeing people of all colors enjoying the music, music they could relate to, I'd appreciate the hell out of a concert like that myself and for them it must have been one of the greatest days of their lives
I've been a fan of 'Steve the Storyteller' for many years now, and saw him last thursday in a really effing great gig in 'De Melkweg' in good old Amsterdam, which was a really awesome performance of him and The Dukes. Never seen this vid, though. Really impressive and astounding, especially those intervieuws with inmates. And the balls of Steve to go 'naked' here ...man, I admire the guy even more now!! This man is really true to the lagacy of Old Johnny Cash and Good Old Townes!
+TheOBOM been to the same show at the Melkweg in Amsterdam, so great, just wished he would come in Amsterdam every year, after the show I have been checkin' a lot of his music&interviews, not only the most well known but as much as I can and the love grows, put his albums next to my Hank Williams and Johnny Cash and Waylon Jennings albums, Steve's one of the biggest, so I stored his albums between them, hopefully he will come back soon again...
+restlessinamsterdam He will, man 'cause he really likes playing in Amsterdam. Next time, we will meet during the concert and have a nice beer and a chat togethter, what say you?! Grtz, OBOM.
They didn't really "let" him... they made him do it. I don't think he was reluctant, but this was court-ordered as a condition of his parole on a drug charge. He served 2 months on a one year sentence.
It was recently officially released as part of a box set of his mid 90s work including the DVD, re-releases of two studio albums and a previously unreleased live album.
If my copy is complete, all you are missing is some blank screen and Steve saying "I'm Steve Earle and that is the Cold Creek Correctional Facility in East Tennessee." He points behind him.
He was in rehab for part of his sentence, then back in jail. He was released early because of overcrowding, so he got lucky and was only in jail a little over a month plus a month in rehab.
Agreed @sneakywan. Hurting other people, fucking with peoples property: that's a crime. Doing drugs: uh, that's like clearly not a crime. If you can't handle your shit then that's your problem -on drugs or not. If you fuck with other people then your ass should be thrown behind bars. But to be thrown in jail with a lengthy sentence and a criminal record just because you like getting high...THAT is criminal. Steve's in a unique position. If he had to get a regular job, like most people, then he probably would have gone to that crack dealer three blocks over. Because good luck getting a decent job when you have a drug charge. Hell, now days you can't even fucking sack groceries if you have a drug charge.
aswtx75 He was absolutely correct saying he was the ultimate functioning Heroin addict. If he would have had. a few different friends or a woman that knew how to knock a. M Fer out and dry'em out. He could still be functioning Junkie. We are the same age it was the fine greatest time to be alive.Never since and never again The Music revolution in every genre . everything indescribable. Hell even Vietnam sad to inferiorating at people spitting on our Boys. my teens.
As far as I'm concerned is that they're the least of these, like myself, and locked up but I'm just locked up in a different way, a different kind of prison. Jesus said when you done it unto the least of these you've done it unto me my brother. Pows prisoners of war lost but not forgotten one more thing the rangers leave no fallen Man behind. Food for thought there.
Saw him play a soli acoustic show around this time at Dingwalls in Camden (London). He looked liked shit - and not a little fucked-off when his string broke as he hit the second chord! I thought he was gonna walk off, but he played for a couple of hours and was incredible - as well as being funny and a genius storyteller between tunes. I’m 53. I’ve seen 100’s of gigs by 100’s of bands, and the Dingwalls gig is my number 2. I used to have a cassette bootleg of the show but lost it 😞 If anyone has a copy or a digital link please PM me 🙂
I seen him with Jackson Browne and I seen him with I think slamming Sammy Kershaw Steve Earle great performer great boys prolific extraordinary songwriter.. I suggest watching worn torn highways. Especially if you like songwriters just to name a couple Guy Clark Steve Earle? Townes Van Zandt and of course the lovely Susannah. David Allan Coe Charlie Daniels early 1970s before they were household names. You will be hooked
Anyone know who the other lead guitarist was with Steve? I know the one to Steve's left is Mark Stuart, but I don't know the other and I couldn't quite hear him when mentioned the names at the end.
@@darlincommitme he wasn't part of the super suckers was he? I can't remember if it was I feel alright or el corozon they were on. Steve is my cousin I should know this lol. I met the guitarist a couple times.
@@danielmims8467 No, Steele was not with the Supersuckers. And they just did one song (NYC) with him on El Corozon, not the whole album, and did not tour with him.
Steve is great. Absolutely a phenom talent. Loved the part where the cons whine about how shitty jail is. Especially the ones in for murder. BooHoo JohnnyBadAss, you should have thought about that before you killed someone. I am glad you're locked up and not out in public.
Tavis Cumberland There seems be an issue with the video as posted, but I can assure you it is not lip synced. That is not something Earle would ever do. There are better versions posted on youtube and he officially released this a couple years ago. It is a recording of a live concert, no question. (And it certainly does not sound like a studio version.)
