I've been a fan of Steve Earle for a long time, but after watching these vids, all I can say is, what a beautiful soul !!! Thank you KEXP for uploading these vids !!!
I think his views are anything but pretentious because if anything they have hurt his career. Say what you want about his politics, but the man has views and he sticks to them without worrying about people not going to his shows or buying his records. I think that is quite honorable. Politics are woven into his songs, that's just who he is. If you don't like his politics it's hard to like the man.
Foolishness and lack of judgment ??!! , put the crack pipe down now ! Steve Earle, one of the great artist of our times, is at the height of his career and he didn't get there by lack of judgment. You obviously don't get him.
See Victor, therein lies the rub, some people have been down the same roads he has and he may very well be an inspiration to some of them. His thoughts and words are who he is, so I'm thinking you don't REALLY love the man and his music.
It's mind boggling to me that someone could claim to be a Steve Earle fan and profess a disinterest in his "words and thoughts." If you don't like his political beliefs, go listen to Ted Nugent.
Steve has a novel titled "I'll Never Get Out of theis World Alive." It is worth a read and has potential, though I have to say he is a better songwriter than author.
As a Sept 11th survivor what did 'Osama Bin Laden's head on a platter' get me? It didn't get my health back. The nightmares still exist. My friends and loved ones are still gone. And before you ask I dont have the fingers or toes to count those lost and that we are still losing.
