Compressor pedal also helps, also make sure to really pluck through the strings so that you can hit the string under it, to get that notorious clicky tone.

You also want a very strong compresor. SansAmp sells an official Steve Harris one but any old compressor is fine really. JHS 3 series is a nice budget option.
