i have made many camping and hiking trips in the Missouri Ozarks and i come across them a few times every year. I give them the respect they deserve and i consider it a nice outdoor experience to see them. Be careful where you put your hands and don't harass them .
Oh gods, this whole thing takes me back! I remember when I would watch this show constantly as a kid, to this day I can never get that theme song out of my head!
Although I enjoy all documentaries, Steve's got a special place in my heart, mostly because he's my all time 2nd fave guy in a documentary. R.I.P Steve.
Ahoyhoy There, Fellow RU-vidrinos! I got bit by a young Rattler; on the thumb! (That's one of the most fatal places to get bitten; and by a young fellow, too!) I was catching Fence Lizards down at the Pond on our property; I see the biggest lizard I'd ever seen; he runs into one of the Pond's surrounding brushes with a hollow in the roots. I guess he knew where to hide because when i ran into the brush after him, I got stuck in the branches when I heard it.... a Rattlesnake! I quickly but quietly tried to get away , staying completely fearless (as I love all reptiles yet realized the danger.) He got me as I tried to pull away. My Mother came down to the pond about two minutes later and called me to supper. I was out of the brambles by then, and i told her with a sincere yet comedic voice "Mom, IgotbitbyaRattlesnake" I was still unafraid of what just happened , as Matyr was doing her trademark yelling and Squaking , obviously very upset and worried , not at all as collected as I was, I went up and watched Spongebob Squarepants while my arm turned purple. My mom was on the telephone with her my Aunt, who is a Doctor. I continued to watch Spongebob and have an arm that was quite mauve at the time until I went to the hospital. I was there three days with the utmost respect and care, my favourite part (yes there was a favourite part of getting bit by a legless predator.) Was having all the Mousse I could eat! I still have the scar from where he bit me and It's a reminder that nature , while beautiful, can be dangerous if played around with in the wrong circumstances. I wanted to catch that lizard, wild as he was , an animal that majestically proportioned, even just a lizard , an animal that wild needs to be left alone completely , even if I was going to let him go, he was so big for for his species , an animal like that cannot be touched by man, and the snake subconsciously protected this animal from the hands of man , perhaps.
1:17 Cameracrew: “Ok Steve show the viewers where the pits are.” Steve: “AIGHT, Imma take this markah, and draw on me face where the pits are!!” Cameracrew: “. . I mean you could just poi-“ Steve: *draws on face*
After that scene with the snakes falling on Terry, one actually bit her on the face. But she just sat there and was very professional about it. Looked very painful though!
Zoo Atlanta (in Atlanta, GA naturally) has a very impressive collection of rattlesnakes in their reptile house. Eastern Diamondback, Speckled, Black Tail, Aruban, Timber, Mottled Rock etc.
I grew up in AZ too. Southeastern AZ. I used to climb up to the old mines in the Huachuca Mountains looking for blacktail rattlers. In 20 years I only found one, and he was crossing a mountain road. They are bright neon yellow colored, just like this shows.
steve when jonathan ross said you were a hero you denied it but i wish you knew how much you really did change the world , the world lost one of its idols as well as animals lost there voice , and your family lost one of the greatest husband and fathers , i miss you mate , good on ya
His picture should be in the dictionary where the definition for "legend" is. This guy was amazingly brave with a touch of insanity. I feel sorry for his family who lost someone so utterly amazing and close. I think the reason he was so famous was because you could tell he cared for his job and for the animals he came in contact with.
I feel Steve when I snap an animal on camera or handling a wild animal, capturing and relocating it. Just wanting to be as close to something as natural and raw as a wild animal and feel the appreciation for wildlife as others stand around and call me crazy but just because somethings poisonous or bites doesn't mean it deserves to die CAPTURE and RELOCATE. If somehow an Irwin reads this just know Steve is loved and inspired many to practice conservation and rehabilitation for animals I miss and love him as a kid I had the board game, movie collision course, watched the show all the time and still do. Animal Planet died with Steve and he's sorely missed.
Where I live someone ran a rattlesnake over about a mile from my house, flattened the head and took of the rattle, then some idiot on a 4-wheeler took him and dropped him about a quarter of a mile from my house.
Jeez, it's like we can never stop hearing about Justin Bieber because of haters. If it weren't for haters, he'd probably wouldn't be such a big deal, but haters made sure we constantly reminded of him. Haters give a negative vibe so I think JB haters are the worst of anything that has to do with Justin Bieber. I rarely see JB fans saying how he's better than everyone else, they just like him for who he is.
