Steve Jobs (1955-2011) was an American technology innovator, entrepreneur and investor best known for being the co-founder, chairman and chief executive officer of Apple. After graduating from college, Jobs backed out of a doctoral program to pursue a career in the emerging field of computer technology. He founded Apple Computer in 1976 with Steve Wozniak and Ronald Wayne, and served as chairman and CEO until relinquishing control in 1986 due to a well-documented disagreement with the board over the direction of the company. He later returned to Apple in 1996 and served as its chief executive officer until his death in 2011. Jobs' legacy includes the Macintosh computer, iPod, iPhone and iPad, groundbreaking products that changed the way we interact with technology.
