Did you ever see the movie ladies and gentlemen the fabulous stains ? It’s a comedy punk movie an Steve and the professionals are like the main band in it it’s pretty cool give it a check if you hadn’t
@@deranged_nubreed Yeah, I know it! I wish Steve had sung in the band of the movie. I'm a big fan of him. Thanks for sharing this video, if you have any other material about the Professionals or Steve please post it! 👍
The Professionals were probably the nearest we ever got to hearing how a second Pistols album might have been. Try to imagine some of these tracks with John on vocals and Glen on bass... Electric
You're right, you know. A second Pistols lp could've been a world-beater, continuing in the vein of previous darker material such as *_New York._* Then again think about what Lydon was doing at the same time with PiL. With all due respect no wonder he wanted nothing to do with this. And they can take the piss all they want out of Adam Ant et al but The Professionals weren't doing anything new, their sound was a little reactionary in comparison to the best of the new breed. One group of original punkers who *_were_* doing something much more compelling with a similar set up to this were ex-Generation X guitarist Bob Andrews and Mark Laff's band, named *_EMPiRE,_* who released an album called Expansive Sound in 1983, re-released in 2009, worth checking out, has something in common with Killing Joke but more melodic. Stands up well today.
The poster in the background right at the beginning of this film was the cover of the Professionals second single '123' which was released in October 1980.This film therefore is NOT 1979. it is late1980 at the earliest. Apart from that,a great little snapshot of the band.
Correct, plus Adam & the ants, and Spandau Ballet were only just hitting the top of the UK charts at the end of 1980, really we're talking at least 1981.
This is more likely to be 1981 rather than 1979 with Myers and McVeigh in the line up. Great footage anyway, never seen this home video type of recording before. Thanks for uploading.
That first bit of quiet guitar Steve is playing at the beginning whilst the guy is talking is basically the same chords as 'Just another rainbow' by Liam Gallagher and John Squire. That was just released. Weird.
This is educational i.e. I never realised that Steve Jones played/owned a Gibson Les Paul Deluxe, and to see the 'Guitar Hero" Fender Twin amp was still around after the Sex Pistols break-up.
@@deranged_nubreed I have just looked at The Proffesionals 1 2 3 video and it looks like the guitar belongs to Ray McVeigh, educational stuff for me to learn. And the 14:27s 4001 Rickenbacker bass looks sooooooooo darn similar to The Clash's Paul Simonon's what with the unique/distinctive looking customised paintwork. Intriquing video to say the least.Great stuff and an absolute diamond of a find to put up!
@@vonslagle Another interesting fact is he also owned a single cutaway Gibson Les Paul Junior that he sold on to Gary Moore.... QUOTE (Google): "Gary was first seen using this guitar during the Thin Lizzy 1979 Black Rose Tour. According to Gary, the guitar used to belong to Steve Jones of the Sex Pistols."
@@MusicalAddictionOnlineLessons Lyrics are important but the tune and sound are more important when it comes to rock music.I mean try making a living as poet if you don't believe me .Lydon did write great lyrics though which added to the band
Does anyone know if this Professionals was inspiration for the Ladies and Gentlemen the Fabulous Stain film? I know they used some members, but I am not sure if there is connection beyond that.
01:56 He was funny as feck was Steve. Still is. The comedian of the band...but a very, very capable guitar player mark you. No Wombles required fanx v much.
