I'm really glad they are giving Pippen his credit and Jordan himself is giving him the credit. Takes a grown man to be second fiddle to a superstar for so much years and still excel.
People don’t know Scottie Pippen was third in mvp voting behind David Robinson and Hakeem the very next season Jordan retired. Scottie would have been a supperstar. He’s equivalent to a Kawhi or PG13 in the modern day. He got more votes than Shaq and Ewing that year, impressive.
Leading up to this, I was actually quite annoyed at people calling it a series about Michael... so wanted to scream “it’s about the Bulls!! Not just Michael”
No one is discrediting Pippen, even MJ and Phil acknowledge his contribution to the Bulls success. Maybe the young guns like to do that, but the documentary will slap them in the face. 🤣
I’ve been saying this for YEARS!!!! THAT MJ WAS THE GOAT ...THE GOAT ...HIS FIRST YEAR IN THE LEAGUE BEFORE ANY RINGS!!!! That’s how much of a God he was! You could SEE it clear as day with your eyes. Shame on all these analyst who think a player can surpass MJ with his stats by the END. We have seen Lebron play and are waiting for his stats at the end after 20 years? Jordan was the GOAT day one..Sound crazy? That’s just how good he was.
Here is why I will always have Jordan 1. You would get to end of games or series and you knew they were going to win and Jordan was going to make at least one clutch play. Lebron is one of the smartest most physically dominant athletes ever and at best you feel it is 50/50 at end of game. Jordan, it felt like a 100 wrap.
Bulls GM's ego threw away potentially 2-3 more titles for Chicago. Now the NBA has to tap the legacy of the GOAT just to remain relevant during the lock down.
That's a great point by Steve! The presence MJ had cannot be described, he was God like figure, no highlight can relate that feeling that was in the air then. Kobe was fantastic player, Lebron is great, Shaq too or any other great player since then, but non of them had that
@Ulysses432 your statements are truer than you realize my friend! i went to the hospital to have my baby on april 9, 1997. to keep my mind off of the delivery/contractions, we watched the bulls. i saw them beat the pacers, but i got wheeled out for emer c-section when the next game started. i must've been *really* stressed about it bc when my baby was delivered, the nurses told me that i had a boy, and the bulls beat the knicks! 😂
one more thing each team during during MJ era has been planning and kept findin way to stop Jordan every time they will play against bulls. and yet MJ always getting away with a win. and many of those game MJ manage to make a clutch shot and make Bulls win. thats whybi just dont get it why some people always trying to take the credit from jordan some say if wasnt for pippen jordan will never win a championship. for me im not taking away some credit from pippen because he is truly helped MJ win those championship but pippen may not be in his status today if he didnt join bulls and became jordan teammates. jordan is the main reason why bulls earn thise championship and they cannot take it away from him. in those era their attention is always on stopping MJ alone.
If you are too young to have watched them......the hype is real. As a kid in middle school my favorite team was KJ , Barkley and the Suns. It was painful to watch the dominance. So many great, hall of fame players played in the 90's and never won a ring because of this team.
@@TheGoodShepard I used to go crazy when Majerle would hit a clutch 3, or Charles would dunk, and hang on the rim. I even had the purple and black KJ shoes.
@globalicon2012 I honestly can't imagine that MJ would've paid social media that much attention. Whether he did or not, I don't think he would've cared too much about what a bunch of internet twats had to say lol.
A resume like no other in sports history: 6-Time NBA Champion; 6-Time NBA Most Valuable Player; 5-Time Regular Season Most Valuable Player; 10-Time NBA Scoring Champion; 14-Time NBA All-Star; 3-Time NBA All-Star MVP; 10-Time All-NBA First Team; 9-Time All-NBA Defensive First-Team; 1 Defensive Player of the Year; 3-Time NBA Steals Leader; NBA Rookie of the Year; All-NBA Rookie Team; 2-Time NBA Slam Dunk Champion; 2-Time Gold Medalist in Olympics; 3-Time AP All-Athlete of the Year; Highest Regular Season PPG Average in NBA History; Highest Playoffs PPG Average in NBA History; Highest Finals PPG Average in NBA History/////6-0 in the NBA Finals. In an era of Big-Men and he had none! Are you kidding me? Unreal! The GOAT - plain and simple.
Yes, and the game was much different back then. Espn just showed the Ali-Frazier trilogy of fights- that's what the NBA was like back then. There was hand checking as well. Jordan would Average 45 in today's game. When they show the playoff series Jordan went through the younger generation is gonna see that he's the undisputed goat.
For real, good looking out everyone else, because globalicon2012 has no idea wth he’s talking about. Completely backwards comment. Hella weird. Almost think it’s a bot but it’s too particular not to be another 1 of these backwards persons out here on the internet talking NO sense. ✌️🤙🙏
I love MJ! I am crying in the inside coz 'The Last Dance' is not shown in Netflix yet. I am from a 3rd world country and this is the closest I can get to MJ.
MJ's winning attitude & his mindset incorporated it to his team mates. teach them to learn what it takes to become a champion that was Michael Jordan the Leader.
My favorite Mike feat was the fact he dunked on every big man in the league made it his business to sought you out and destroy you that's what I admired most about MJ
i think lebron stay in the group he loves MJ as much as everyone else and he respects him like no other, and set him and kobe as his role model examples! though the killer mentality wasn't there but his motivation to prove himself has manifested in him.. im not a bron fan, and i felt this era is a cupcake, im a solid MJ and Kobe fan! but i can see Brons determination to catch up.. though its not easy to be even surrounded by superteams and rules made easy during his era... i can say his entertaining as a player
Saw the first 2 episodes tonight I’m 44 i experienced all of these MJs championship runs it gives me chills watching this so mesmerizing I remember it like it was yesterday Mike is the 🐐 no doubt about it can’t wait for the rest of the series ✨👌🏽
Jordan’s upbringing shouldn’t be overlooked. That’s where his competitive spirit and alpha mentality to become the greatest came from. You can tell Lebron was raised by his momma which explains his insecurities and lack of killer instinct, same goes for KD.
iverson also a mommas boy- also had weak spots. something to be said about having a full family- to have a secure and strong psyche. jordans biggest rival was his brother til he went to college
The best MJ was from 1984-88. He didn't win championships during those years but he made everybody in the league look like kids. I grew up on the southside of Chicago and saw his whole career. It's hardly any games from early in his career on RU-vid. It was no league pass or internet so the masses didn't see those games unless you lived in the Chicago area or caught a broadcast on WGN TV.
I love them going through the tunnel for the intro then the announcer "from North Carolina". There's some old heads in on it who know what we're looking for. That doc gets those juices going again. He was so different. We took it for granted after a while. It's the 4th quarter so of course Jordan has 28. The thing I'm not sure everybody knows is he almost never just put up a shot. Every possession the path of greatest difficulty was the first option. His stamina for pure work was impossible to fathom. People see highlights and go "wow he has some great highlights". He was like that almost every time he touched the ball. You could play that hyper-intense intro whenever he got the ball. Jordan in the playoffs was the 3rd best overall and best non-Philadelphia watch in sports history for me and I go back to Rick Barry shooting free throws underhand and making 90% of them. Other top 6. 6. Barry Sanders on Thanksgiving, 5. Lynn Swann and the Steel Curtain against Cliff Branch and the No Moral Compass defense, 4. Bird's Celtics against Magic's Lakers in the finals, 2. '70's Philadelphia Flyers when Dave Schultz wasn't embarrassing the city, 1. Ali Frazier, who I shook hands with in front of his gym on Broad Street 34 years ago and it's still one of the highlights of my life.
Jordan scored 49pts in game 1 and 63 points in game 2 in the 86 playoffs against the Celtics. ...for the series he averaged 41ppg on 50% lechoke blames and Kobe never did that
Greatness doesn’t happen by coincidence. Guy like Steve Kerr doesn’t just happen to be apart of the 2 Greatest Teams of All Time. Playing withJordan, going through that 72-10 is something that he’s able to use as a HC. It’s takes a whole team to Win and especially when teams are breaking & setting records 73-9 It took 1 of the top 5 GPOAT, more like top 2 that was in a Zone on a mission to come back & set record of his own, but that 73-9 is surrounded by Rings and 1 Win away from achieving 1 theirselves. LeBron, Kyrie , K Love , Jefferson & The Cavs were on a mission and achieved it. 1 of the Greatest Finals of All Time was 16. We’ll look back and appreciate it even more when we realize the history of what it really was, with 2 of the GPOAT on oppo teams in the middle of a SUPER DOPE 4 Yr Battle. That ish was Dope. They had to go & get KD after that. Lol The Spurs went all the way while Kerr was there too. He’s a guy that can put a close team over the edge with being able to hit the pressure 3’s when the Super Star GOAT players believe in him & don’t just kick out the rock to him but actually look for Kerr when that double & even triple teams are coming @ Jordan & Duncan in the BiGGEST SITUATIONS. Recognize. Greatness is not a coincidence.
Just had to bring up LeBron lol no matter what LeBron gets brought up by people who doesn't like him..This is about MJ and the Bulls and fans wonder why some Bron fans act a fool..It's cause of comments like this
So far so good w this documentary. I forgot how much of a joy to watch MJ really was. Hopefully this will put the who’s the goat argument to rest for all the younger fans that missed Jordan’s reign
Do yall think what separated MJ from LeBron and even Kobe from Lebron was all 3 were driven to win but MJ and Kobe seemed to hate losing more than they loved winning. Never truly got that vibe from LBJ.
@@jeffgo5742 Don't get me wrong. LBJ one of the greats but it always seemed, to me at least, that MJ & Kobe would rather be perceived as winners than a good teammate.
@@jaybrick8973 lol whatever that means , that shh still didnt get the job done but 3 out of 9 times thats Sub par young fella to be called a G.O.A.T , im beginning to think there's ppl that don't really know what being a G.O.A.T is these days , to me myself means Stats gotta be great , Championships great , Leadership great , Dominance great , Consecutive Champion Great , Determination & Heart Great , Performance Great , Showmanship Great , Amazement Great , and thats just a few you can't just give that freely out like that now MJ has covered and got receipts on all those Honestly its on Film its on Paper its in Trophy cases its in ppl Memories , and Bron has been Great but he hasnt filled all those Greats out yet now maybe in the next 5-10 more years Bron cover all those Greats then maybe the amount of time one did over the other may logistically come into play who knows until then ,as of now he's a lil short for now !
roberto5red5rocky I don’t think that should be held against him tho he played against the greatest team of all time for three straight years I do believe Jordan is the goat tho
The first 2 episodes bought back great memories of the greatness of Michael Jordan the GOAT and can we all admit that Scottie Pippen was the best Robin in NBA history. Looking forward to next week episodes.
Im glad Steve Kerr set the record straight, saying now it looks easy because of Jordan's, and the a Bull's dominance, but wasn't. They had to dig deep. In essence, going through a league where hand checking, roughness, and some of all the great all time players played, all at one time. Some young people I talk to are beginning to make light of that now, because of seeing only the highlights of those days, not really being old enough too see complete games, and seasons. We watched Jordan, the Bulls bring under submission a league stacked with talent, and more physical. I love my childhood, and seeing these games on regular TV , but no disrespect to today's NBA,but the officiating and today's game is watered down, making some players seem very very good, or great , when there only just "good, and some are ok". But not "great"... the great players who prevailed in a tougher league back then,& I feel really earned their stripes... So to be great in Jordan's era, meant you were really really good, or great. No bs. Steve Kerr said alot, when he said this comment
I truly believe SVP is the reason why SportsCenter, their flagship show, is the way it is. Sure, you had Keith and some of the other guys and gals, but in this generation this guy blows it out of the park.
I would love to know what Kerr learned from the managerial rift with the players and how he advises management to avoid such things with the Warriors-that is if he does advise at all.
How many elite basketball players are able to be the two way leader of their team, the focus of the opposition, and maintain the health and stamina to win it year after year? Lebron’s run to the Finals was impressive, Kobe’s rings speak for themselves. But two three-peats, separated by a hiatus into baseball? It’s unequalled in all of team sports
MJ is the number 1 person in the world that ever touches a basketball...but he never won any playoff games without Pippen! Scottie won playoff games without MJ. You need more than your own Talent in a team sport!
Well said coach Steve Kerr. We, the 1990's Chicago Bulls fans will always be here, always admire and will always remember the greatness of your Chicago Bulls team was. The memories stays here in our minds, heart and soul and you guys will never be forgotten in the history of basketball not only in the NBA but in the entire whole wide world. "Michael Jordan" is the only and will always be the greatest basketball player of all time period.
Michael Jordan and the bulls in the 90's were superstars of NBA. The Euphoria that came with every Bulls game is unmatched today and Is only matched by Michael Jordan's "idol" the great Dr. J of the 70's and early 80's.... you just had to be there to see the energy and will of Jordan and his teammates to win that's unmatched in today's league...
Kerr, nailed it. You can see the highlights but if you weren't there during this time you couldn't "feel" the dominance. Everything back then with Jordan was so dramatic it was ridiculous.
This will become the most watched sports docuseries in history, simply because of how starved sports fans are of any new sports related content + captive audience.
That suspect prolly walking around his neighborhood with nothing on but his Satin Lebron Panties that says "Bron Bron" on back , while his fella friend following in the car saying get in the car Shay quit trippin thats not a real Documentary Shay get in the car and lets go home ! Lol
I miss the bulls back in the '80-'90's Steve Kerr, pipen, rodman, grant, and of course my man Michael I wish one more game of the original just for fun and Phil Jackson the baddest coach of all times
It was a great great time growing up in Chicago getting to experienced all those championships , I was 11 years old in 91 , I went to about 3 of the rallies in grant park , now those were definitely the good ol days .
Nothing but love for Steve Kerr here in Chicago. Him, Pippen, Rodman, Jordan and our Bulls of the 90's still hold a special place in all of our hearts here. 🙌🏿
