Steve McQueen going home - Bullitt 

Anyone else just love the simplicity of this scene?

I love the Dirty Harry series. But what I really like about Bullitt is the realism. The trip to the grocery store shows the humanity of Frank Bullitt. He's not just some cool cop. The stacking of those Swanson TV dinners gives you the sense of how demanding his job is and has no time to cook. Another thing. Outstanding parallel parking job! It's difficult enough on a flat surface. But with the steep grade of San Francisco streets, a stick shift, and no backup camera? Kudos for the smooth parking!

Bullitt doesn’t get enough credit for a great musical score.

Just the coolest scene. I revisit it every now and again to remind myself how to be more like Steve McQueen.

The scene where Steve McQueen takes the goods was so cool that I mimicked it. I did buy the newspaper properly.

I was in that grocery store last week. There are two quite good looking Bullitt/McQueen murals high up on the interior walls now - one still to be finished. They'd also recently run a fun competition to win a stack of Frank Bullitt style frozen TV dinners! It's funny that even though in the film the store is wall to wall food and drink produce the interior looks smaller now - though the current layout has fewer shelves and aisles. Very friendly shopkeeper too. Really nice lady.

I always thought this one of the best scenes inthe movie; great job parking, tv dinners, music. Subtle and cool.

I went to the corner shop there many years ago ,brought some ice cream ,then my girlfriend and I went over the road to the house ,and sat on the steps, a guy came out and asked if we would like to go in ,and have a look around , being a Big McQueen fan , how could I not,

Had fun walking into that store onTaylor last night, re-enacting the stacking of the tv dinners shot, then walking out and seeing Bullitt's apartment building directly across the street. Loved seeing that the store owner had a mural of Bullitt in his Mustang painted on an interior wall.

Remind me of living in San Francisco I was lucky enough to have grown up there and driving, parking and shopping at the corner store, just the whole scene I'm so familiar with. I miss it.

Such a great scene. The amazing music just makes this scene so memorable, and still all these years later. I was in San Francisco as a boy the year after Bullitt was released and when I was there in 2009, went into that little grocery store that’s still there. I was driving my Miata (I’ve owned two vintage Mustangs). What a great experience!

Then after as a proof of what a simpler time it was, he just locked the door using the key. No key fob, no alarm beep, No nothing.

I was in San Francisco the last time around 2012. The store was still there back then, and going strong. I even talked to the store owner who had met Steve McQueen when he was in the city. Filmed in the towering inferno. Always enjoy watching the scene in the movie because I had been there myself. I walked around the city, visiting various spots where they film the movie. Always nice to see filming locations where they filmed this classic movie

For someone so committed to realism, an open parking space in San Francisco was a definite over site.

His apartment was slick.

Im convinced this movie if it had spawned a limited-episode tv movie of the week series with mcqueen and as many of the original players as possible would have been a smash success.. Imagine every 4 weeks or so a new 2 hour tv movie with frank bullitt..of course the budget would be way lower but keep the car and the music and the cool...it would be a winner.

Simple fact is life was wtihout 16 digit password and so on. Dam,. get the letters, initialals or the computer says NO I went to college but can't spell English. Nearly all young English teenagers have wild spelling. Allways been so. Dr,Jhonson and first Dictionary tried to contrain English spelling, Any old UK church graves and speliing is local in local speech. It evolves.
