I dunno ... the 930 is now looking vintage to me. At least compared to the past few years. Porsche has made brilliant little tweaks to the chassis every year and it remains one of the best looking sports cars out there. Every single year. Brilliant.
I had the privilege of experiencing the thrill of a lifetime in Hurley Haywood's 1978 930, a gift from the Porsche factory for winning Le Mans the previous year. This was a machine that demanded to be run at speed-but with the UNDIVIDED attention of it's driver. The lessons Haywood imparted to me that day served me well when I got my own 911, a 'humble' 1981 SC coupé. The BEST auto I ever owned..
Though I agree to some extent you have to consider the number of cars Steve owned. The cost in storage, maintenance etc, etc would be crazy. His family have certain cars that Steve left them and will be passed down. Ones like this are making money for a great cause that Steve cared so much about.
This is the car that scared Bruce lee, after Steve giving him a thrill ride down Mollhullan dr . supposedly bruce saying i am going to kill you when we get out of this car.funny
why is Chad selling this, I have heard he loves Porsches. Its not like he needs money, I am sure he is making huge money still from his father's estate.
+Arisgod27 I wouldn't be so sure, it might just be something as simple as storage fees or the desire to let someone who has the means to care for it better than he can. McQueen did own a lot of cars in his lifetime
Bob Smith Porsche Dealer in Hollywood had the 930 Turbo on confinement for McQueen Floyd Mutrux bought the car.Mr Mutrux in the 1970s was the King of Porsche collectors. He sold the 930Turbo to Dino Martin JR when Dino Died in plane crash mr Regalia Obtained the 930.
I believe this was one of a number of cars from his collection being sold. The family doesn’t need the money, they just felt someone else should own them, they’re just sitting in storage and their sale could help places like Boys Republic
