My dads good friend went to school with him in british colombia and they were bestfriends. They use to go to each others houses and stuff.. and he still talks to him frequently over the phone.

"Don't stop. Don't think in short term. You gotta be in the moment and work every, and it's because you are trying to keep getting better and better. In the end, you reached your goal" - life lesson from Steve Nash right there. Just an amazing basketball player and a person.

Was a moderate level recruit to Santa Clara. Improved there practicing an inordinate amount of time compared to other players. Admirable dedication. Bench player early in his career with the Suns under Jason Kdd and Kebin Johnson both who were superior talents.

Love this. It'd be cool to have watched Nash during his high school days, before he "arrived", to get a glimpse of the work ethic that made him an elite NBA point guard. Crazy thing is, even after two MVP awards and solidifying himself as one of the best pure pt. guards to play, he maintains the same attitude that he no doubt had as a rookie, that you never "arrive". Also, Nash made the system, not the other way around. Last I heard, "Starbury" was ballin in China in his $20 shoes.

Steve is not just a good payer but a good person. A lot of NBA players seem really self centered and full of themselves when you watch these academy videos. Nash has a good heart, not a selfish one.

Got a chance to prove himself in Dallas playing Nellie Ball(similiar not identical to D'Antoni's system in base premise. All offense, little to no defensive emphasis. Both are uptempo fast break regardless of fact systems with slight half court differences. Nelson's focuses more on isolation play compared to spread pick and rolls with D'Antoni).

What I love about Nash is that he just seems ordinary. Hes white, not overly tall nor overly athletic but hes still a great player, and that provides inspiration to me. Hes not the type that jumps out as a basketball player as Lebron James, Kobe, Dwight Howard who all look like ballers. & I love Nash for giving that inspiration that you dont have to be physically gifted to be an awesome player.

Borderline all star for a couple years but many still questioned how he would play in a traditional NBA offense which he struggled in and still did with Porter's system last season. Achieved greater status playing in a system under D'Antoni that emphaized his strengths and minimized his weaknesses. Sorry their are far more talented point guards in the league today and in the past. Nash stated himself that if he played Stephon Marbury 10 times Marbury would destroy him 10 times.

if you think you're not than you'llnever play like you are. to be the best you have to believe and play like the best. play hard every game and when you are 17 or 18 videotape one of your games and send it to a coach to come see you play and maybe he''ll take you and make you into a college player anything is possible
@chitownmo
@chitownmo 15 лет назад
That could and likely will be either and J'Mychal Reese(Bryan high school, Bryan TX 2012 prospect; !# overall prospect; 1# overall point guard) and/or Brandon Knight(Pine Crest school, Florida; 2010 prospect; 2# overall prospect; 1# overall point guard). Advanced ball skills with intangibles. Knight is more physically developed right now due to his age but Reese is unbelievably skilled for a freshman with more hype on him than any player since O.J. Mayo as a freshman. No weaknesses in his game.

Steve was not that young when he won his 1st MVP. Was 31. Other players won at younger ages(Jordan.Chamberlain.Magic.Bird.Russell.Abdul Jabbar.etc.). He is an example of hard work and dedication you can persevere but is not a special individual talent. His friend Nowitzki was a superior high school age prospect out of Germany in 98. Dominated the USs youth select team.

Was a back up point guard for most of his career. Needs to domnate the ball to be effective. Struggles in traditional NBA offenses. D'Antoni allowed him to look better than what he actually is. Not a top 5 point guard talent. Stated himself that if he played Marbury 10 times Marbury would destroy him every time. True Marbury was an exceptional talent. Still is talented.

Actually I do not quite a bit about Nash's career. Beyond what was needed in that petty insult you directed towards me in your comment. He was no high major division 1 recruit. Was barely a 2 star to low 3 star prospect at best. Stated himself years ago that he sent videos of himself to coaches such as coach Krzyzewski of Duke, Bobby Knight of Indiana and Roy Willams of Kansas(at that time). No high major programs showed interest in a slow white point guard from Canada.
@chitownmo
@chitownmo 15 лет назад
Can't think like that. You have to have a passion to improve. If you do not you will fall and stay behind. Natural talent will get you far but Dedication will carry you ahead of the pack. Listen to what they coaches are saying. Anyone can do that. You do not have to be a star to work hard and focus. Look at Nash. He was not a star in high school. He worked on his game.
