Steve-O Has Taken Massive “L”s Recently - Wild Ride  

Steve-O, my biggest piece of criticism for the podcast is cool stories and conversations are not happening anymore. I remember when Tommy Lee was telling crazy stories about the 80s no one had heard before, or all of the jackass guests revealing the insanity behind the scenes. You used to approach the guest as a fan, trying and succeeding in finding the cool underground information us fans want to hear. I find this isn’t the case anymore and the conversations are shallow. If you take anything away from this reflective state I would hope this would be something you try to implement again. 🖤

Bro I have loved Steve-O forever. Really became diehard after reading his first book. Watch every podcast. Honestly I have been getting pushed away from the arrogance and high horse attitude that has been growing lately. The biggest concern being the shameless plugging and constant make money mindset. On his JRE episode even Joe was annoyed by it. He has been self aware about it and does address and his audience which has made it ok for me BUT these last few weeks his podcast appearances were like the breaking point from me and I turned my notifications off for his stuff, was still going to watch if I saw it, but I was done giving him intense focus and this saved it. Good job Steve-O. This is how all online personalities should deal with problems, you could’ve attacked 2lazy and threatened him behind closed doors but now you just made his whole year. He criticized you because he cares and obviously wants you to be better. Good work Steve-O but please chill on the ads on the videos and chill on the im better than thee sober attitude.

Biggest L was letting Gary V on the podcast. That dude is such a slime ball.

I think it boils down to respecting that going on people's podcast shouldn't be a self serving exercise but acknowledging that it's their space that they you are privileged to access their audience. Part of that is trusting that the podcast host knows their audience best & will steer the content correctly to present you in a way that their audience will want to invest in what you are trying to promote. What you were doing was heavy handed audience farming

As a gamer and a Steve o fan, I do think people need to understand that not everyone is a gamer and you're sort of a comedian, making light is expected, but it's always a mark of bravery when someone addresses controversy about themselves, respect

It seems like at least part of the problem of Stevo not being fully self aware of his shortcomings is he has surrounded himself with a load of yes men. Every time Stevo brings up something critical of himself in this podcast these yes men will soften the blow by making excuses for him or making it out to not be as big of a deal as it really is. What Stevo needs is somebody who isn’t afraid to tell him the harsh truths he needs to hear in order for him move forward

i’m glad you recognized it and are able to hold yourself accountable. That’s what recovery is all about. I stopped watching and I was a regular viewer. Just because you come off negative a lot of times and come down on other people really hard. It’s not right to hold others accountable unless you’re ready to hold yourself accountable. And it was all adding up for me. I almost bought tickets to one of the shows in Kalamazoo Michigan. Until I read numerous reports of you throwing people out and getting really upset at the crowd for interrupting and things. These are your fans. I don’t know it confuses me. It comes off as self-centered and arrogant. And that’s not what recovery is about. It’s not a contest. Sometimes I see people with personality traits and I’m like man they need to do some microdose mushroom therapy. I wish you the best. When I was seeing how you were treating others, I was like you can’t really call out Bam for his behavior when you’re acting like this. And you acknowledge it. You admit that you interrupt people and try to take the spotlight etc. But I also know you’ve been trying to work on it you said.

The adam Friedland show and legion of skanks appearances were such a pain to watch. The issue there was not going with a bit or riffing. Like any instance of a joke, you take literal or you just say 'okay...'. I feel like nick and adam did a decent job at expressing you weren't enjoying the podcast and playing into sort of like a between two ferns or eric andre bit of making the guest uncomfortable

Steveo, this is a random observation .. but sometimes you gotta sit upright in your chair and fix your posture and you will naturally feel better / give off different body language.

We all need to get together and make an epic skate boarding, music tribute to show how inspiring these people were to us 🤘❤️ I don’t and never will think Steve-O is a bad guy. He’s a got a heart of gold and what a legend. We all have our bad days and set backs.. life can be tough, but we get back up and keep going and enjoy every day as we have it. We love you ❤

Steve-O we all love you brother. I'm about 7 or 8 years younger so I grew up watching you on Jackass the TV show and all the movies. You've been a huge part of millions of peoples lives your attitude and personality are only ever positive so to see so down really sucks but there millions of people out there rooting for you and I hope things start feeling better. All the best dood.

I think these appearances have revealed the fact, that Steve-O stripped out of all the bells and whistles (the crazy stunts, debauchery and over-the-top hi-jinx) really isn't all that charismatic, funny nor is he witty. For example, many guests that appeared on The Adam Friedland show - comedian or not - rolled with the absurdity and had banter and fun even when being kind of ridiculed on the show, but Steve-O seemed to have zero ability to be relaxed or engaged with any of it. It's like he lacks the intelligence and to improvise in situations like that, and so he just resorts to emergency mode, which is "stick to the script, promote my whatever special, repeat the PR speech lines and move on to to the next one". The problem with this strategy, is that it's not entertaining or interesting for the viewer. There's nothing at offer. I think Steve-O in this sense is very similar to Brendan Schaub when he's on podcasts promoting stuff. They have a very similar energy, of being kind of like a fish out of water in situations like these. In situations where their not in control of the "script". If they were actually talented comedians apt at their craft, they would make something out of these situations. Because that's simply put: the job of a comedian. To be able to find the funny out of any situation, be the butt of the joke and at times throw funny banter back at your interviewers. It's a basic required skill, that Steve-O and Brendan Schaub respectively utterly lack. You can only go so far being a comedian, if you aren't that naturally charismatic or funny. Tragic but true.

The biggest L was everything to do with Adam22. Clearly lost a few fans for life there.

So what if he doesn’t know who Danny Brown is? Danny Brown wanted him on his pod and Steve-o gave him the opportunity without knowing him that’s a W for this Danny Brown guy he got a big name on his pod and Steve-o got some more internet exposure that’s a win win
