Mr. Steve - the King of HARMONIES. Before I knew what they were, it was the layers of harmonies and vocals that drew me in to wanting to hear more of the iconic sound that made Journey what it is. Now the vocal control of bellowed tenor tones to the whispered notes of Traces has my heart telling my ears to play it again while trying to dissect each and every note/harmony. When I first received Traces, it was the only thing I listened to in my travels, until I felt I had absorbed all I could take in (about 5 months later). Then I put it away for a short period. It's just a practice I've followed for much of my life to learn more of music, and also see if the tones that drew me in will stand the tests of time. Now, yes these are the same songs, but the stripped down versions give a new feel. Possibly a closer connection to what was in Steve's heart when he first composed them. Maybe just a second portion of the original concept. Either way, I count it a blessing that he has decided to share his gifts of music. Many thanks for the Musical Memories Mr. Steve.
