It's why a lot of people argue that the MCU scene where Vision picks it up doesn't prove anything as in the comics Vision is able to pick it up under the explanation that he is a machine. Comic books are confusing and writers tend to rework or completely scrap rules and limitations when they take over a character.

@Gabz Omo No, because the German Doctor was the one who got him into the military and to become the Super Soldier. the night before he says he’s from Queens. And since a Hydra soldier sneaks in and kills him that probably stuck with cap. So hearing a smart kid who was on his way to become a doctor/scientist (Peter) he was reminded of his lost friend and its wholesome.
