Thank you for this wonderful interview. I especially liked Steve saying that the first time he heard the Van Halen 1st Album he said it was Jimi Hendrix for the modern era. Jimi was an American and wanted to come back to America but unfortunately died in 1970s. There were many great English artists musicians however Hendrix never got the respect he deserved back in America. If your college professor gives you an F for journalism well that really sucks but you turned out well. Just like Eddie never learned how to read piano music or anything in college. By the way I met Jimi in London in 1968 when I was a young child and could also write a novel about the encounter and how it greatly influenced my life. EVH was an American artist great musician and innovator pure and simple like Hendrix was.
You met JIMI in the late 1960s ? WOW, what was that like @Blondine9ify ? I had the impression he was very shy with interviewers. Did you ever see the Dick Cavett interview when Dick said to Jimi - 'You're considered to be one of the best guitarists in the world,' & Jimi just embarrassingly looked down to his feet & the ground & muttered -'Oh no' ....He seemed genuinely embarrassed by people who paid him compliments .
