"Village of "Midfield" model railway featuring class 47 and 57 diesels, lots of Lyddle End buildings built on 1.3 square metre board. (amazing what you can fit on)
Lighting: 3 switches Street lights, house lights,station lights
Lots of tea and coffee drank and to be honest a lot of tea and coffee as been used on the layout. Lick the track and you will probably identify as Nescafe
Not as big as it looks, size is approx 48" X 27"
Re uploaded as shorter video.

11yrs old (2023) and still stands out with an eye catching village and a nice change in soundtrack. Hope the layout is still in use. Well done Steve.

It was the making of it that was fun.... Once competed and I couldn't think of anything to alter or modify it went under the bed and has been there for quite a few years now

I have to respect that there's not track crammed into all the space

Thanks Michael.The second vid I did was the one I was hoping to get most views (better camera) on but didn't seem to work for me. My little layout is not up to much after seeing some of the great layout on yt.... anyway, have you made a start on yours yet. When I read 50/80 points ....my thought was wow, that's not going to be a modestly priced layout. I keep looking on ebay to buy one, a not quite finished one that can be built up and modified..... and go under the bed.

Steve Thomas 50/80 points 🤔 did I say that 😁 that would be way too complicated for me . I’ve been swapping between gauges and have definitely settled with n gauge now after building an 8x4 table for 00 but wasn’t satisfied with the amount of track on there so back with good old N gauge.

Great achievement, Steve, looks much bigger than 3/4 square metre. You have inspired me as I have just started to build my first layout. (2 x 4 ft)
@HumberFlyer
@HumberFlyer 9 лет назад
Neville Hawkins Thanks Neville.... You know what, It does look bigger than 3/4 metre doesn't it. I must have calculated wrong somewhere (as I fumble with the tape measure). It is 1.3 sq metres. 48x27 inches. Maybe consider yours to at least 27" or you may be restricted on the radiuses

I used to do 00 but i had limitations as to size as my house isn't big enough for the plans i have for the future so i sold the lot and now am looking to go into N class as i can save space and build big i live in Rugby and i want to remake the railway as it was in the 40s in the industrial part of rugby i have found the original plans so it will be a massive undertaking as there will be at least 50 to 80 points to install and figure out how to operate i will be using a computer to run it in the end as i would not have enough hands to change the points manually it will take a few years to build obviously and a lot of dosh points aint cheap so watching channels like yours helps me greatly the more information i amass the better for me so looking forward to watch you progress .ps i have subscribed like and clicked the bell .

Hi Steve, what an interesting layout! I'm new to N-gauge and wondered if you can show in a later video show your track plan? I am looking for an inspiring layout after the last Y/T layout I emulated, turned out to be a complete disaster with far too many 'reverse loops' and all the electrical difficulties that raises! My bench top board is roughly 1.8m x 0.75m

@HumberFlyer
@HumberFlyer 6 лет назад
Yes. but you maybe wouldn't notice as I have rebalasted over the kato profile balasting
@dominicdinosaur
@dominicdinosaur 6 лет назад
Yeah, I'll admit I could only notice by the small, black manual switch on the point. Im considering using KATO UNITRACK for my upcoming N gauge layout, so it's good to know you can, not only use it, but make it look quintessentially British as well.
@HumberFlyer
