Even considering all that, when I hear you talk about it...I just feel a little safer knowing you SEE CLEARLY the political craziness that is occurring & ... you see your way to the other side of it.
A case could be made that he is betting against Trump, and, in fact, could be betting the spread. This, however, is is contrast to other Republicans who either are betting on Trump or are trying hedge their bets. At the very least, Schmidt is showing courage. I think that he is sincere.
I have voted Democratic for years and only have voted for Republicans on a few occasions. But if there were more Republicans that actually had the courage to speak truths and actually eschew the values they talk about, like Steven, I would welcome that greatly. The Party of Trump is the culmination of Newt Gingrich's, Karl Rove's, and Lee Atwater's shortsighted vision for a GOP future... absolute insanity.
I really hope that Steve Is safe and is able to remain safe from harm whilst he continues to call out dangers to democracy. He is an American national, if not World, treasure. I am a European and have been totally horrified by the American slide into the political and moral abyss over the last 4 years. Surely there is a will and a way for decency to finally prevail.
I am Canadian. We are horrified. Right now our border is closed due to Covid-19. If this madness continues, I am considering petitioning our government that it stays that way.

The only irony is that Trump and the Republicans who pushed his bs will likely get off. At least the banks have told them they will not do business with them. But even that I have trouble believing they will keep their word at.
He contributed to this situation by helping Republicans cheat their way into office over the years. He has not renounced that behavior and I think he is only on the "right side" now because Republicans have finally crossed even his line for what is indefensible.
Listening to Steve Schmidt’s account of the meeting with Jared Kushner gave me chills. What took place at this meeting raised parallels to another, but far more sinister meeting which took place 79 years ago last week, The Wannsee Conference. At that meeting, for which all notes of this meeting were to have been destroyed, but for which a set, a copy of the protocols with the minutes of the meeting that were found in a box of files after the war, no one would have known that it took place. What those surviving papers revealed was that on that day senior government officials of Nazi Germany met with Schutzstaffel to finalize the implementation of the “final solution to the Jewish problem.” Let that sink in for a moment, and realize that staff and advisors of the American president, who in spite of party affiliation is expected to be the leader of the nation and of all its people, met and decided not to act on fight COVID because it was going to affect people that did not, nor were likely to vote for him. As result, now hundreds of thousands have needlessly died as result of this these people meeting and agreeing on this. This is pure evil in its scope and raises this to the level of a crime against humanity committed against the American people by the president and his administration. Not only for the sake of these people, but also that of the country, this must be be properly dealt with and those that went on to act as result of this meeting, punished. If not, do be surprised to find what has happened will become the foundation on which worse crimes rise from.
I've never agreed to Dems policy, but they've always had a compass pointing toward "fairness". The GOP said it also had a compass of "law & order", but now their NORTH keeps moving to where the P-Grabber says it is. How can any (real) conservative follow such GOP hypocrites?

It's staggering to think that Steve Schmidt opens his mouth and out pours what would take a normal human being hours/days/weeks of research and preparation, but he details fact/philosophy/history/common sense/wisdom off the top of his head. Selling part of Americas Uranium stock pile to Russia threw a third party was possibly illegal and then getting millions deposited 125 million I believe very shortly after is possibly illegal. Many people sit in jail with no intent to do harm. but were in wrong place at the wrong time. Had Obama incited the insurrection, the GOP would be foaming at the mouth & screaming for an indictment. So your options are peaceful protest by kneeling or violent riots. Don't know about you but seems kneeling is the better of the two options. The first amendment gives everyone the right to peaceably protest. There are no conditions as to where and when. The government killing people on the street is disrespectful at best.
@@ygrittesnow1701 I think we are at cross purposes, I believe that it's perfectly acceptable to kneel in protest during the Anthem. Any exercise of Constitutional Rights are acceptable. Unconstitutionally trying to deprive citizens of their Constitutional Rights is never acceptable.
This is a perfectly legal form of protest, and whether or not it's disrespectful is in the eyes of the beholder. Some would say police indiscriminately killing black folks is pretty disrespectful.
Steve Schmidt should never be silenced or interrupted by technical glitches. Every word he has to say is vital to our survival. I wish every network in the U.S. had the courage to offer his political and historical perspective.

I don't think steve would want to a politician, or journalist, or anything that would restrain his ruthless honesty, integrity, and ability to speak truth to power. He is not beholden to anyone right now , which makes it possible

I have friends who moved to Portugal 3 years ago. They are very happy and told me they would never move back to USA. Many Americans are moving out! They told me Western Europeans are shocked and confused over how so many Americans continue to follow a well known criminal and conman. It’s embarrassing. Once covid is under control I’m supposed to visit these friends in Portugal for a few weeks under the plan of joining them. America, a once great nation, is finished. Biden can’t undo the damage the evil monster,Trump, has unleashed.

When faced with a crisis we employ imagination, unfortunately imagination can easily lead to fantasy and this when reinforced by the power of social media can lead to superstition and a retreat from reality. There is a distinct possibility that this may slowly develop, largely unnoticed, and cause havoc, panic and lead to the rise of a messianic figures who will offer solutions. We live in interesting times but this has also happened before and society has survived, so there is always hope!
