Former Oakland Raider Steve Smith, who was diagnosed with ALS in 2002, and his wife Chie have fired their attorney after suspecting the attorney could try to double dip on the NFL concussion settlement. (DMN video/editing: Tom Fox)
My uncle just passed away with this disease last month I didn’t see it coming, I was telling you be strong..My heart still hurt for my uncle and all those people that has Als and their family...stay strong sweetie
Tarsha Ferguson I’m sorry to hear about the loss of your uncle. Losing a loved one is never easy but as we keep them present in our memories and in our hearts, they’ll always be with us.
@@linanicolia1994 wow no need for such an ignorant comment , maybe shes happy because shes with her husband, sounds to me you are not happy in your life ,
she is waiting for the settlement. She has people who care for him. She cannot do it herself, so ? why is she still there ? maybe she is masochist. She likes to suffer. He is no longer her husband, but a shell of his former self. No one would blame her if she left.
This is a true definition of a good wife live by the Bible this is a good wife I'm wishing and I'm praying for many blessings to you and your husband!!
My uncle passed from ALS. And years later, a resident at work I had cared for was diagnosed with ALS . I have known and loved 2 people diagnosed with this. I would say it does not feel so uncommon anymore..:(. This woman is a hero for him. . This disease literally takes all from you, except your mind. You are trapped..in a personal jail. Prayers for all enduring this battle and for those who have lost someone to ALS. hugs xoxo
My father was diagnosed with ALS as well. He played football in HS..My sweet mother took care of him and us 4 children all while attending school. It’s such a devastating disease..I pray for this family 💕
I would not allow my spouse to go out like that. I would give my ailing love one something that would end their life peacefully , even if it would cost me my freedom.
me too. I think most people would NOT want to be sustained that way. It is not life but sheer torture ! we need euthanasia ; not that hypocritical "death with dignity" they have in Oregon ! too many people die too soon, afraid they will not be able to swallow the famous drink. Just let the medical community give them a powerful IV injection of opiates. Make it legal !!!!!!! First do no harm ! RIGHT ! but second, do not tolerate such torture as people are unable to end their miserable lives. They need our help. We do it for our beloved pets, so, why not our family members ?
@@linanicolia1994 so many terrible debilitating diseases out there....Huntington's for one.....for myself, I do not want a prolonged life held together by tubes and whistles.....what is wrong with letting go peacefully to heaven?.....we are not meant to live forever....its God's way...
I'm a PITT fan and I remember when Steve played for Penn State. I always admired him. He was a warrior and continues to be one. God bless you and your family.
For better or for worse.... man words a lot of us take for granted the love and understanding she has and for him to go threw this best wishes to both of them
I’m so sorry that he has this. He is a big inspiration to many people. I’m sorry to him, his wife, his kids, and his family. I agree that there should be changes with how football is played. However, maybe he can be a voice that helps change it. I wanted to tear up when he smiled. It goes to show in the midst of hard times there is still a reason to smile and be happy somehow. I wish many prayers and blessings to him and his family. He has a great support system.
Why do we always say people are amazing for doing what they are suppose to do. We say mothers and dads are amazing for taking great care of their kids, we say wives and husbands are amazing for taking great care of each other, we say teachers are amazing for teaching and taking care of their students, we say the military is amazing for keeping us safe in our country. Well I say, it's LOVE of what you signed up for and YOUR LOYALTY TO YOUR WORD and RESPONDSIBILITY .... Enough with this Amazing......
God Bless him and especially his amazing wife and their sweet children. This is heart breaking. But at the same time it’s a blessing he has a wife that loves him unconditionally. This is a perfect example of unconditional love. I hope that I’ll be so fortunate if I ever get sick.
This is the first time I've come across these comments. I want to thank all of you that left positive kind comments. Steve and I have been married for almost 30 years. There was a time during this journey we had nothing left of our savings because the majority of it went to Steve's care. Steve chose to live and that meant going on a ventilator. His daily care is very important and when someone is bedridden they're susceptible to bed sores. He's defied the odds against him and I believe it's his amazingly positive attitude, faith in God and the love and care of our family. We have been very fortunate throughout the last 18 yrs since his diagnosis to have friends and organizations that have helped us. I have no idea what the future holds but if there's any lesson to be learned from this and what I hope to share with others is that love will see you through. When you have children it's our job as parents to teach them that you don't run when faced with adversity. for those that felt the need to leave negative, inaccurate comments about our life...I can only pray for you.
Prayers. I just found out that my dad has ALS. He just got a feeding tube put in and is in a wheel chair. It breaks my heart. He raised me since I was a baby. I want to move closer, so he can see his grand kids.
Amazing wife, but I honestly wouldn't want to A) live and B) have my wife have that kind of life. She would always love me but that wouldn't be me. Rather her remarry and enjoy her life
I'm glad that you chose Penn State. As a freshman, I was privileged to watch you play in, and win, the greatest college football game of all time. That being said, it looks like the best decision that you ever made was to marry this woman. RIP Steve. PSU - '90
This is a difficult video to watch. The tragedy in concussions is evident here. To go from a star athlete to that is probably beyond what the public really knows. His wife is such a blessing for him, she ment her vows when she spoke them. I can’t help but think to myself that’s no quality of life. I’m pretty sure I wouldn’t be strong enough if that happened to me. I sure hope the league and all those doctors get a handle on this and find a way to help these men.
Marriage is a covenant, and God did not intend for a covenant to be broken-period! God bless them continuously with favor and grace. They are shining examples of a real marriage!!
My POA is my brother. Not my wifey or my mum. I definitely do not want to live like this unless I have young children. Wifey or mum would prolong my life and that is a "no go" for me. More power to those who can deal with this mentally.
