Couldn't agree more. Haha. I remember when Wrighty did his first ever 'hands up' - it was about 10 minutes into one of his shows in late 1982 or maybe early 1983... I have the recording somewhere...

@@athomp6649 Unfortunately the controller of Radio 2 wants to bring the average age of listeners down. Replacing Steve with Tim or Janey (even though both of them had both hosted their OWN shows on BBC Radio 2 before joining The Big Show in 1999 - so clearly they're capable) wouldn't help reach that target demographic. // On that note, Janey used to be the regular cover presenter for SW Sunday Love Songs... I wonder if she'll ever reprise the role now that she won't be on SWITA Tuesdays and Thursdays anymore... She was fantastic at it, SO much better and fresher than Gaby Roslin, Anneka Rice or Nicki Chappers...
He was that good that listeners would have followed him to another station, not loyal to the BBC but to Steve and now this void is filled with Scott Mills, radio off for two hours until Sara Cox comes on, I would have preferred she took over from Steve but still broadcast for three hours.
