This is an example of mature drumming. He basically plays this with no fills really except for a few snare and cymbal patterns and that tom tom build up/crescendo and thats it. Not throwing his chop in because it wasnt necessary. He played and always played exactly what the song called for.... No more, no less. He sounds great nowadays Rock on Steven

I first heard that album when I was 12 years old. And the first thing on that album that caught my attention was that fucken snare drum. The best of all time IMO. You can really feel it. The whole album was Adler's feel, and everyone else was just along for the ride. That's why they faded away after Adler was gone. He was the rock star of the band. That's why neither Slash nor Axl could sell out football stadiums on their own. Think about it.

Those drumsticks that he is using in this video have been posted on gnr on social media, well as a hint.Apperently he is injured and couldve made an return appearance at the troubadour but injured.. But hes back so he'll be hopefully playing just after axl comes back from acdc.
GnR will not be complete without the original line up. They all had demons they had to conquer. They did now its time to get back together for real. Steven is the man on drums.
Last year my bf, Ron, who was a wonderful, gifted guitar player, passed away unexpectedly, and the next morning, at 4:OO AM, my clock radio went off and I was wakened by the song Knocking on Heaven's Door, GNR. I don't remember setting that clock and will always remember that, and that he was telling me he was OK and had found Heaven.... I miss him so much....even now, it's hard to listen to rock music without being reminded of him....
He has the very soul of Guns N' Roses in his hands. His dynamics, this groove and fills are nothing less than the rightful owners of the band's legacy. He should be given the job on the reunion matters, if no huge obstacle stands in his way. Why can't Axl give Frank Ferrer a long thank you hug and move on, as he is more of a hired musician after all? Izzy Stradlin also deserved the 1/5 of the loot he mentioned, for justice sake.
Pay them all equally they made each other famous… Axl performances Duff put in some cool bass lines Izzy wrote most of the album Steven was the back bone and the rhythm and Slash had the Solos and energy covered…
That was awesome. I thoroughly enjoy watching Adler play. Far more than just great rock grooves coming from this man. He exudes a happiness of pure enjoyment through his playing.
If I were to ever pick up an instrument and decide to start playing again, I pray to God that i look like i'm having as much fun as Steven Adler does. I have never seen a video of him looking anything other than just complete enjoyment from what he is doing. Just looks like one of those guys you would love to sit down and have a drink with and talk about random shit.
Steven!!! the best Drummer 4 Guns that ever was!!!...can´t understand why Axl has fired him from the band!!...he´s got so much Passion and beat!!...he´s such a Little Whirlwind.He´s got such Power in what he´s doin´!...he´s one of my favourites of all time.
+Justin Smith I recently heard an excerpt from Eddie Trunks radio show, and Steven and Johnny 5, and others were on. Steven stated that he was worried that he was not going to be invited on the reunion. Eddie asked him why he felt this way, and Steven stated that some of the guys in GNR don't like him, and don't think he is really clean. Eddie told Steven that he has information, but won't say what exactly, but told Steven that the guys don't think that, and they know he is clean and is rocking the hell out of the drums, and that he should stop worrying! Johnny 5 also stated that Steven should stop worrying, and stop listening to BS gossip, and that he feels Stevens drumming is kicking! Eddie wanted to say he was in the reunion, but you just know that he can't. Long story short, after listening to the whole interview, I think it's going to come down to it that Steven and Matt will both be involved in the reunion. And Steven is cool with that idea. I think fans will be cool with the idea. They will likely alternate on songs. Thats pretty cool! Too bad VH could not work things out like that. It would have been great to have Michael Anthony & Wolfie, and Dave & Sammy. It was really wrong what VH did to Michael. I actually saw a show in CT. where Dave and Sammy alternated on songs, but they were not with the rest of VH.
+basketsbylynda You are misinformed Lynda. Neither Steven, nor Matt is scheduled for the reunion. All of the media outlets are saying the guy who drums for the new Guns is staying on. Same with the rhythm guitarist. Only original members getting back together are Axl, Slash, and Duff. No Izzy and no Steven at last report.
I like his style because, even if it looks very basic, it is song driven and makes it sound great!.. Very similar to Ringo's drumming if you know what I mean.

This right here boys and girls should show you exactly how awesome GnR was / is and how much of an impact they had on music. The drummer on AFD can get 3 nobodies and go out and make a comfortable living playing GnR songs. How cool is that?? Thank you Glam metal and music industry for over saturating everything with Poison and Dokken and spawning this awesome band`!!!
Despite his troubled past with drugs and other things, Steven will always be the G.O.A.T. original drummer of GNR. I am so happy that he is still playing and looking more healthier and stronger these days.
Wish I could've seen GNR in 1986, 1987 when they had such fire and passion. Steve amazes me: had a stroke and left with a speech impediment but it hasn't stopped his drumming ability at all. Love it!

Matt Sorum is a great drummer and ALL the drummers that have played with Axl were great BUT...ONLY Steven adler can play guns and roses properly!!! hundreds of thousands of drummers play Led Zeppelin but only John Bonham plays the songs as they should be...only the original guy can put the Original guys feel into the song
+Dale Maguire Yep, the problem really his that Adler only recorded ONE LP with GNR and a 4 track with Lies. The Illusions go to Matt Sorum. Adler never played those. So technically you'll always need two guys to play GNR material.
einarabelc5 fair enough...I could be wrong but I think Steven initially did the drum parts for....ah shit I can't think of what song it was...but anyways he started but was too messed up so sorum came from the cult....would still love to see Adler with them
You may think he's better technically. But guess what? Adler IS Guns n Roses, he and Izzy are the GnR sound. And Frank Ferrer isn't better at playing GnR. So there.
