I always enjoy it when Jack goes into depth about any vehicle that Reese rides in, or operates. It gives me a chance to do a search on the vehicle and I've always been impressed with the big price tag of the vehicles that Jack writes about. Just something else for me to dream about!
Hi, great interview and discussion. I read The War of Art (mentioned on Jo Rogan) and now I’ll read the others. I’m a veteran (Iraq91) and my therapist suggested a few years ago that I use creative writing to express my thoughts. Since reading and finding out about Jack Carr he inspired me to write. I have been writing my own short book (science fiction) but I am not a professional I am actually doing it as an exercise in discipline. To create something from nothing and I’m no where near the level to get my book published or even self publish. I love reading. Now I just want to actually write my book simply to feel the satisfaction of completing a challenging task and I’m about a third of the way in. I bought a couple of guides and I have followed a template whereby I created a one page summary and using the three act structure to help get me through the story. It’s bloody hard, frustrating and at times I want to give it away. However by watching, listening and reading about Jack Carr I use his life story as a way to guide my writing experience. The joy in this writing journey is to working my way through to finish my story, my book. Jack Carr has helped me get off my arse. Regardless of how good or bad my story ends up I will have created something from nothing. I am simply focussed on doing the grind day by day. I write 500 to 800 words a day as I discovered that if I write more I don’t feel the authenticity. So I have found my own way, 500 words to 800 per day and slowly but surely I will get there. I still fight my at times very strong desire and feelings of quitting’. I just remind myself that all I have to do is keep going word by word and it’s for me.
One of the first ever thrillers was written in the first person and that’s Rogue Male by Geoffrey Household. It’s was written in 1939 but still worth checking out.
Steve did a really good job of interviewing you Jack. lmao I think he did forget who's podcast it was but to be honest this was super interesting. You covered some things I hadn't heard before!
Another great podcast! I have enjoyed each of them. Your line up of guests has been great. I have learned much about the many writers that are out there. Thank You Jack Carr!
I don't know which is better, reading S. Pressfield or listening to him being interviewed. The only thing that would have made this better would be having you two on the other side of a campfire and a kothon of coffee.
I don’t want to aggravate you Mr. Carr but how long until the next novel is released. By the way I can’t read your books because I have really bad vision but I own all your books on audio. Thanks for all your brilliant work.
