I have been a Porcupine Tree/Steven Wilson/Bass Communion since 2005. Steven is so passionate about the music, the process of making music. I love the work he does remixing other albums. The Harmony Codex is a masterwork of an album. Beautifully mastered and engineered. 10 out of 10 album rating. Superb interview. Thank you.
I totally agree that the audio mix on this album is incredible. Steven continues to outdo himself on the production side and this is for sure an Atmos showcase album.
Great interview. Its so nice to see how SW has opened more and more in the interviews throughout the years about his music and some personal stuff. This has gave us more access to understand the brilliant musical mind he has. I remember a few years ago back in the Insurgentes/Grace era were he was more closed, dark, melancholic, didn’t opened that much in the interviews and didn’t smiled at all. Don’t get me wrong does two initial albums are my in my top 3 of his but personally he was more introverted. Now he is very extroverted 😂. I think that once he found love thru his partner, kids(great interruption by his daughter 😂😂) and dog he began to be more opened and extroverted, his music indeed changed because of this and he finally smiled😅😂, we all change once we found the love of a partner and make a family❤. I been an SW fan since the beginning 00’s and he has evolved both personally and musically and also I thanks to in part of his music. Thanks Steven👍👊🖖🤙👌✌️
Amazing interview! Very insightful questions and answers! Learned a lot about spatial audio and loved the urban music and Kubrick analogies. Truly amazing, cinematic record. Thank you!
Fantastic interview. Love hearing about his promotion thoughts, and I feel like he is bringing a much needed challenge to the world of rock and metal to get with the times. His thoughts of album coherency are great to hear too.
Steven Wilson is one of the only true prog musicians left, sorry but most so called prog bands have pigeon holed themselves and killed the original intent of prog music.
I was listening to Radio Paradise in 2004 and heard Prodigal from In Absentia and I've been hooked on all things Steven Wilson ever since! (And I've seen four SW shows around the NW US.)
Just a couple of minutes in but I want to say how great the new album is. I even bought a Harmony Codex hoodie; the first music related clothing since about 2000! 😊
Been a Porcupine Tree fan since 1999, and love all of the SW side projects and his solo catalogue. THC is the best thing in my view that SW has done in his sole career since the Hand.Cannot.Erase. album. Please can we have a new Bass Communion album and another PT album and tour SW, cheers.
you have to appreciate the quality of both SW interviews. you can tell how engaged Wilson is both here and the audiophile video and it's a clear reason why you were able to get him back on this channel. top notch stuff guys!!
I think if Steven made tumblr part of his campaign he could get quite a lot of fans there, tumblr gets forgotten but it's really easy to get traction and these days users do have more of an attention span than on most other platforms especially for really good interesting music
Trouble with atmos is that my stereo speakers and amp cost $14000, there is no way that i could put that kind of money into multiple channels. So although I think that atmos will sound novel to start with, the reduction in quality of each channel will keep people listening to stereo. The stereo mix of this album is phenomenal btw.
Watching the harmony codex 10 min video on a heavy trip last week was a life changing experience for me, I felt so many different emotions, and visually, it Jumpstarted everything in the room into a constant flow of movement. Love this album, I wish someone would upload the entire deluxe edition
Wish i could hear this album on a true spatial audio system.. the way it was mixed to sound... hoping he figures out a way to take the album on tour.. like i dont even care if he sings it live, i just want to hear it the way its supposed to be heard how he intrnded
I really like the album but there's no way it is up to the standard of Grace/Raven/Hand. Yep, there's lots of experimentation, different styles and sounds etc but what about the SONGS?
