She’s always been one of the VERY greats for me! Truly, from earliest memories. I was a kid loving these records playing in the car many decades ago, when my mum would tell me in an aside or between tracks, Pay attention. Listen to the lyrics! And I have grown to feel them at different levels of intensity at different ages, or « “seasons” of my life », if you will. Even before my love of Dylan, Leonard Cohen, Johnny Cash, Dolly Parton, Lou Reed, Neil Young, Joni Mitchell, Robert Smith, PJ Harvey-whose lyrical genius I learned in a more verbal and literary sense, as I developed a real reading and literary life and saw (what constitutes to me) their poetry on paper, or in transcribed text online. Whereas Stevie Nicks, in several records but especially the obvious hits she penned and put out into the world on her first two albums with Fleetwood Mac. So when I once heard her former lover and creative and (I think?) social and generational peer Joe Walsh, when it was repeatedly put to him that Nicks was one of the most gifted lyricists of their whole scene and time, he resisted. He said, basically, “yeah, she has some good songs! And what she and the band [Fleetwood Mac] did is very good…” I was so offended. Don Henley, Graham Nash, James Taylor, Stephen Stills? Them he can praise EFFUSIVELY for their songwriting. Nicks, who has never to this day done anything short of celebrate his talent and confess to finding his gifts incredible, regardless of what may have happened between them romantically? He can hardly manage a diplomatic nod of approval and simple agreement to someone else’s tribute to Nicks. Let alone be bothered to talk about her artistry at any length himself.
I’m sure after all the years they been together and their past relationship, their is no way they don’t love each other, not in love, but a deep love for one another. Just imagine how hard it was to be in such a strong in love relationship with each other and then breakup and still work together and see each other move on to new relationships. When most people are in love and breakup, they don’t have to see each other and not have new relationships thrown in their face. In their relationship, even if they were hurting and brokenhearted for each other, they had to hold things in, as to not destroy the band.
I think they respect each other quite a lot. I even suspect there is still a fundamental love between them. Such is life. True Love Breakups are tough - they did well with that difficult-life-road-bump.
Doesn't matter where I am, what I am doing, when I hear this song I get emotional. One of the greatest songs ever written, performed by the best. Amazing band!
@@mrv2308it unravelled when Stevie began affairs So then he did so to get back at her and when you mix that with all of the drugs and the fact that they had been around each other since teenagers it just was a recipe for disaster and too many things happened at that point that in their hearts can be forgiven. Sadly they have immense resentment towards each other and we all know what resentment does. It's sad so sad.
My daughter insisted that this be the song for our "Daddy / Daughter" dance at her wedding a few weeks ago. One of the most emotional and endearing moments of my life. Will never be able to hear this song again without shedding many tears of joy remembering that special moment.
In love w/Stevie? Perhaps, but neither you nor I know how he feels about her. I'd guess, coming from a divorced guy, that he loves her because of all they've been thru together but...in love w/her? For his wife's sake, I hope not.
Poor Lindsey, the look on his face when Stevie was dedicating the song to him. You can tell how hard he was trying to hold back his emotions. Instead, he channeled it though his guitar, you can really feel his emotions through his playing. It's beautiful.
SMEE AGREED, they have known each other since H.S. that's A LOT OF YEARS together , albeit, romantically or musically...i believe they are soulmates who wont admit it .
The romantic in me believes in another dimension. In the universe, Stevie and Lindsey are happy together. I wish them both love and happiness in their respective lives. We lost Christine McVee last year so it feels like a change to the band and what their future holds. I think they love each other. Just a more mature kind of love that works for them.
Yes, when I was a teenager listening to this song and now I am in my 60's and it still touches my heart and gives me chills to watch this performance and hear this song even after all of this time.
@shanebriggs1039 but Elton John and Bernie Taupin weren't in a relationship. Incidentally ,I think they often had to work completely separately because of tensions between them as friends and music partners
She tells him how much she appreciated him and loves him for all of the good and bad things. She shows her love and support by putting her hands on his shoulders. It is a hug. She is wrapping her love around him. She is telling him her truth and he is finding a release from her and He knows that she loved him the best she could. She just out grew him. This is totally about growing up and love that changes but grows in a different way.
Imagine such a painful relationship made some of the best music in the seventies. Must have been difficult time to be together, but that’s the way we endured in that era. Nothing but love for these two ❤
My Dad sang this to me almost every night as he played his Gibson then we would talk. He taught me so many things about life through music. Scarlett ribbons instilled a peace within me to believe, faith that if it is meant to be, it will be! He lives in my heart forever. Oh did I mention he was actually my stepfather? Amazing man❤
The sparks will always fly between these two 🔥 The way Lindsay looks at Stevie here... there are still feelings of love there between them (and anger and regret too, I'm sure)
Yoo Wararat: True love never dies. For example, read current news articles about Bruce Willis and Demi Moore. They understand that it is not necessary to resent and even hate ex-spouses.
Thanks so much for this song, I lost my dad 2 weeks ago and well y’all know or have been through something like this, the loss of a loved one!! Sooo hard,RIP DADDY I Love YOU ALWAYS DADDY 😢😢😢🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️😘😘😘😘😘😘😘😘
A Rich Friendship! Only one that has been forged in the fire and still stands can produce the Love and respect these two have for one another. A Gem stone was forged out of their fiery love. Many beautiful songs along with it. We are grateful for your music and memories. Never to be repeated ❤❤❤ But we can always Dance 💃 🕺 and Love on. Let this be inspiration.
Even my 15 y/o and her friends know about this moment. Truly iconic to influence multiple generations. My mom was a fan in real time, then I got to experience the renaissance of the 90s and my kids live it through tiktok in 2024. Epic ❤
I had the privilege of seeing these two perform this song live in Vancouver many years ago. Probably the same time this stage performance was recorded and it was phenomenal and amazing. Chemistry definitely was there.
This was truly beautiful ! It is evident that they have an undying love for one another, but just were not good together. I am sure a love like that could never die. Sometimes, people part ways, because they love each other too much.... and just do not want to damage one another anymore.
Lindsey looked fantastic, he was 54 or 55 years old when this was recorded? This is the best and most touching version of Landslide. Very impressive performance by both legends!
I agree. I’ve watched this video several times and it never gets old - so raw and genuine; the best version of the song in my opinion. The love in Lindsey’s eyes as she’s singing is undeniable.
I'm not sure what Lindsey is looking at. The past, certainly. She is still and was then, when she wrote this song, one of the most beautiful woman in the world, inside and out. I know those of us who "discovered" the band and followed it faithfully wanted their relationship to last forever, and I'm sure he did too.
I heard the 75 version and it just doesnt pack the punch now, u feel this song now so much more and her raspy voice is so sublime...as we age these lyrics are just divine
@lyndascillitani2516: It's good to see someone else express that. The popular expression "I don't love you/him/her anymore" is nonsense, meaning only that some other emotion was misconstrued as love. Thanks, Lynda.
Saw them in 1987 in Hartford CT at their first reunion tour. Was in pain after just having shoulder surgery but loved every minute of it. Went home and listened to the entire Rumours album again. Love you guys forever!❤😊
Missing my Mom Maria every Mother's Day she never showed us she was scared of cancer she smiled till the end with her Beautiful smile wish I did more for her but I'm in my shell for a couple days looking at pics of her its hard with her Birthday close to Mothers day.....Love you mom& I miss you your daughter Diana
Your beautiful Mom isn’t far away. And someday you will be together again in a place where nobody ever has to say goodbye to the ones they love. Dear Diane…you are Loved…you are LOVED!
I love how as his arm goes round her, her hand goes up like she just knows where his hand will be to hold hers. I've noticed this a few times with them. Total familiarity.
It’s too bad for both of them. You can see they were both still in love. Even though they let on the hated each other. But deep down inside neither Stevie Nicks or Lindsey Buckingham hated the other one. They will always have that love that was specially attached to both of them. I feel sorry for them both.
I try not to listen to this song too much, since it reminds me so much of my dad. This was the last song he recognized as he was losing his mental faculties because of a stroke. It just hurts too much, even if it means so much. It's been 5 years since he passed. Someday I'll be able to sing this song for him.
One voice, one guitar - the outcome stunning. The connection between the two is fantastic. The whole video is mesmerising. Words are not enough to capture the brilliant-ness of this song.
Musical Masterpiece, this song 🎵 is about something that everyone can relate to. I love Fleetwood Mac, their style and sound is unique. They brought something different and special to the music 🎶 🎵 world 🌎.
Theirs songs were the soundtrack of their relationship. Players only love you when they're playing But it's only me who wants to wrap around your dreams, and Have you any dreams you'd like to sell, dreams of loneliness? Like a heartbeat, drives you mad In the stillness of remembering what you had And what you lost
