Stevie kissed me on the forhead at a show in 1978.. I was 9 yrs old. I have loved and followed her ever since! I dont love her as a Mother or a sex object? I just love her, She gave me A connection. She sings just to me..If you dont know or understand her you will never get it.. She is honest and true to the soul!
amen!!!! Stevie truly is a beautiful soul..very honest and true to her heart...I read an article about Stevie and it was done by someone who was close to her..they said the coolest thing about her and it was " exactly how you think of Stevie is exactly how she is" I thought that was a very cool thing to say because I know as a fan and others who are fans have this magical view of her we think the world of her and when her friend said that I was like awesome because I think so many wonderful things about her and I know I wouldn't be disappointed..I'll always love Stevie nicks a fan for life.
The best part about this clip is we get to hear her real voice as it is today without the layering and technical enhancements that go with an album or recorded live show. LOVE HER!
I mean, her voice is also a bit different because of the condition of her nose and because she smoked for 13 years. Don't get me wrong though, I still love her! :)
Oh . .wow . Stevie is magical. I can hear such sadness and nostalgia in her voice. An almost longing for something you can never have again. A feeling. It's gone now.
Tierney Bennett , I understand you completely. She is gorgeous, no doubt. What man doesn't enjoy the idea of having a woman who keeps appearing so youthfully for so long? A slim body is a must. She hits 71 in a few weeks.
1973 I was 6yrs old Stevie Nicks I. Sing as my name is Donna Ollis Paterson die 2fers I will not pay you I will not stand for this go to hell all 2fers
I remember Stevie saying she wrote "Gypsy" as a tribute to the memory of her best friend Robin Anderson, who died of leukemia. I first saw her perform this live in 1982 during the Fleetwood Mac "Mirage" Tour. This video is just fabulous. Thank you for posting. "And her memory is all that is left for you now, but you'll see your gypsy...I still see your bright eyes..."
@@kostyapolykova9879 the only thing about this song that I know you could even be talking about is the word gypsy and I only know that from recent internet culture. In the real world this isn't even a slur to this day. I've always been a self proclaimed gypsy, I'm almost 50. This song has always had a place in my heart, your comment...are you a gypsy even saying that, probably not. This new generation really is the first to be worse than predecessors, to have it confirmed after hearing this beautiful version of Gypsy leaves me ready to give up. There's so much bad in this world actually happening but now our Stevie and this song is wrong in "poor taste"? Go away, leave us that are here for this the little joy left in this world.
How does she do it? Raw vocals and a few chords, no technical flourishes or huge riffs or belting... and yet more impressive and heartwrenching than any other artist out there! It’s like she’s right here in my room with me... so touching, so personal and ethereal! Makes you go all warm and fuzzy 🥰 Simply the best!
Yep, who needs flourishes when you have top notch melodies, lyrics that paint such vivid pictures in your imagination and amazing delivery. Class act. And the on top of that an amazing band with FM who can elevate her songs even further. No wonder they were so huge and are still gaining new fans today.

And you still miss her And you still want her And you can still remember her And you see her bright eyes, her bright eyes. This song and especially these lines from this version will forever touches me from the bottom of my heart. I cannot listen to this song without some tears running down my cheek. I probably don't even want to listen to it without some tears running down my cheek, because it reminds me of something beautiful what was taking away from two amazing women who deserved so much better.
i just wanted to say that I first saw stevie in 1979 ...i was 17 yrs old. life took some tragic turns and I've said ever since then...if not for the music of stevie (and seeing her many times live) i would not be here today. she just gave me hope...and hope for love...and her depth and talent just helped me. anyway...what you wrote is so lovely. a very sweet and genuine description of this amazing lady. thank you...💖
Music heals, and you saved my life Stevie. Through this song I was finally able to deal with the death of my beloved grandmother. It doesn't go away, and "I still miss her", but I'm coming to peace and healing with your help. You and your music hold a very special place in my heart. Long live the queen of rock and roll. ❤️
WOW! The most beautiful girl ever to walk our planet performs a raw, uncut version of "Gypsy!" "Hey, hey Baby!" POWERFUL VERSION!!! Thank you so much Stevie, Thank You Rolling Stone!
I just lost my Mom 3 weeks ago. I would play Gypsy and Landslide videos at night while she fell asleep. I am sobbing listening to this beautiful version. Stevie touches my heart...
It's all about that smile at the end!! As if she's rite back there, back to the very time and day she wrote this amazing song. You are incredible Stevie! x
This song makes more sense to me now at 67 than it ever did my whole life and it's my favorite song I named my daughter gypsy. This version made me cry because this is the way it should be song this is very profound song. Stevie you had so much for sight. This is just the wow factor and aha moment for me. I bow to you.
Really? I love Stevie’s music, but IMO, her voice - say from 1985 on - pales in comparison to her vocals from 1973 to the early ‘80s. I still see people seeing recent concert footage of Nicks laughably saying “she sounds just like she does on the records”.
@@redletter2008 You make a good point. And with some singers their voices fade as they get older. Not their fault, thats life. but some to me improve or change often for the better. Rod Stewart is a classic example. That raspy voice has got softer but he's smart and adjusted to it. Elton John was brilliant but over the past few years he struggles to get the older songs right when live. So he adjusts the pitch of the song to suit. Even MAcca 's voice has lost a lot in recent years but come on, its still Paul McCartney... But Stevie's voice has got deeper and raspier and I like that. In fact I like all of her career.
Thank you for sharing this rare performance of "Gypsy" by Stevie Nicks. Both the song and Stevie are very special. I'm glad she was featured on the cover of Rolling Stone. It was well deserved. Stevie is a true legend. She is well respected by many. She is an honest, genuine, open, hardworking, deep, & wise soul & spirit. She's just a wonderful human being. I appreciate that she keeps on going like the Energizer bunny & is still performing and recording music. She's the best! :-)
Got to see her twice, with and without the Mac...one of those timeless voices that never get old. Long may she run. Same with the song...while I'm so used to the guitar driven version, even this quieter version still sounds lovely.
I love the 70s and early 80s of female singers where they were talented and unique. Stevie Nicks, Cher, Tina Turner, Donna Summer, Helen Reddy, Streisand, Olivia Newton John, Linda Ronstadt, Cyndi Lauper, Annie Lennox, etc. Now it's mostly generic no talents that are there only because they look like Barbie dolls. Talent is rarely a consideration anymore. That's why hearing a great pop voice like this is soooooooo refreshing. Thanks for posting.
Huh? I'm confused. I love Olivia and even noted that. She's awesome. I called her "talented and unique" along with a number of other wonderful singers from the 70s and 80s. Why am I wrong in thinking she's wonderful?
This woman is amazing. I grew up listening to her voice - like whiskey laced with honey . Every girl wanted to be her and every guy wanted to be with her. 💗 And she is still fabulous today. We !ove you, Stevie. May you rock on forever! 💗💗💗
I thought a long time ago I’m gonna listen to a couple of Stevie Nicks songs I listen to them and fell in love how in the world did I how do I love her that way
Amazing moment in our time. Stevie makes it in RS for 7th time 2nd as a cover at age 66. Any other female Rock Stars ever done that. I mean a sole cover photo? She continues to look and act and move on stage like a woman in her late 30s.
My idol, my angel, my friend when i had noone. Ms.Nicks helped me in more ways than she could ever imagine. Im sure so many others. Words cant describe how i feel about this witchy woman. Thank you for sharing urself with us sweet Stevie. Youve helped to give my broken family something to hold onto. We love you. ❤
This was such a treat for me to see. I went deeper into this song than I ever have before, and it's a favorite. So much heart. So much love. So many life lessons is what fuels her music. Love you Stevie, now and always.
7 long yrs and this finally appears. I was today years old when I found the ultimate minimalistic goth song. My heart grew 2 beats now that I have this version in my ears.🖤💜
When my friend Sean died from AIDS, this song kept me together. The magic and beauty of heart felt emotions from the lyrics brought me special meanings.......so, I thank you for that most human of moments I couldn't put together or speak of. God bless.....
So I'm back to the velvet underground Back to the floor that I love To a room with some lace and paper flowers Back to the gypsy that I was To the gypsy that I was And it all comes down to you Well, you know that it does, well Lightning strikes maybe once, maybe twice Oh and it lights up the night And you see your gypsy You see your gypsy To the gypsy That remains Her face says freedom With a little fear I have no fear I have only love And if I was a child And the child was enough Enough for me to love Enough to love She is dancing away from you now She was just a wish She was just a wish And her memory is all that is left for you now You see…
Beautiful, beautiful, powerful song. I’ve always loved it, no matter how she sings it. Brings back so many great memories from a time long gone by. ❤️🙏🏾
My favorite Fleetwood Mac tune...Reminds me of two girlfriend's of mine...one an Ex-wife ! They both are gone...I Miss & Love them both !!! R.I.P. Teri & Kim...! Lighting strikes ! maybe once maybe twice...!!!?!?
Every time I would hear this song, for some reason it would make me think of my 11 year old daughter and it made me cry. She was diagnosed with Leukemia 2 years ago. Only today I read the story behind this song and I was in shock! What a beautiful song from a beautiful lady...
Meeting her at a CD signing here in LA a few years ago was just amazing. Touching her hands and looking into her eyes .... wow. I'm so glad that it happened when I was in the 50's and not when I was younger. I never forget it.
One of the great songs of the last 40 years performed by arguably the greatest female singer/songwriter of all time. I've loved Stevie Nicks since I was a kid growing up in the 80's and still do to this day.
Stevie is the most beautiful. I can't imagine my world without her powerful voice and honesty. If I don't listen to her daily..I miss her in my heart. Just simply love her ❤
