Lyrics:
Day by day, night after night
Blinded by the neon lights
Hurry here, hustlin' there
No one's got the time to spare
Money's tight, nothin' free
Won't somebody come and rescue me
I am stranded, caught in the crossfire
Stranded, caught in the crossfire
Tooth for tooth, eye for an eye
Sell your soul just to buy buy buy
Beggin' a dollar, stealin' a dime
Come on can't you see that I
I am stranded, caught in the crossfire
I am stranded, caught in the crossfire
I need some kind of kindness
Some kind of sympathy oh no
We're stranded, caught in the crossfire
Save the strong, lose the weak
Never turning the other cheek
Trust nobody, don't be no fool
Whatever happened to the golden rule
We got stranded, caught in the crossfire
We got stranded, caught in the crossfire
We got stranded, caught in the crossfire
Stranded, caught in the crossfire
Help me

I was told once, when playing music, every note you play must mean something or don’t play it at all. Stevie Ray Vaughan is the purest example of making every single note, either through his guitar or his voice, mean something, every single time he played. If you know someone who wants to be a musician, TRULY wants to be a musician and share their gift of music with others (not for the money, or the fame, or the “artistic integrity”), tell them, no, demand of them to inundate themselves with every video, record, CD, etc., of SRV they can get their hands on. The Lord gifted him to us for a while, and we were truly lucky enough to enjoy his gift. Honor him by spreading the word, that THIS MAN, was what all music should strive for. If we don’t get there, that’s ok. It truly is the journey that matters. As always, it is, and was, an honor and a privilege Mr. Vaughan. Thank you! Thank You! Thank You! May your soul always Rest In Peace.

I think that was really beautifully put. I can tell you really mean it. All the best musicians out there are really not doing it for the money at all. Something is bursting forth from them. They can’t contain it. They’d do it either way. He was certainly and very obviously one of those people.

I seen SRV three times here in austin at small clubs( steamboat, antones and i think soap creek+ with the thunderbirds there) and he was always mind blowing! I asked Tommy Shannon to compare SRV to Johnny Winter ( seeings how Mr. Shannon played bass with both of them) and he he said “SHIT, there’s no comparing. Stevies a hundred times better player than anyone i can think of” I agree . He was a BMF. Id like to have seen him and prince jam together🚀💥💥🔥
@mariannemaloneywitherspoon6335
Morgan, Loved what you said about SRV making every note, via guitar or singing, count. It reminded me of my art teacher saying to me to make every brushstroke, line, etc. count. It’s what make a great artwork or song different from just a good one. God bless, Marianne ❤ 4:05

SRV's vibratos are in another world! As a guitar player myself. It's beyond words how hard or actually impossible it is to make them sound like he does. So violent and powerful yet perfectly struck notes 100% of the time. This is perfection personified.
@gremlin9870

It's even more impossible to comprehend when you remember he used a very thick string gauge, 13s or something, but yeah it's also physically quite a challenge

@csi2448
@csi2448 4 года назад
Kent Horvath no BS. He played 13's, tuned to Eb. So they played closer to a 12. This was Stevie's usual string gauges, straight from Stevie's guitar tech Rene Martinez, .013 -- .015 -- .019p -- .028 -- .038 -- .058. He also didn't play with a wound third string. Stevie was constantly supergluing his fingers back together. He'd fill the holes in his fingers with baby/baking powder, throw superglue over top, and then stick his fingers to his palm or another finger so he'd have a new layer over top of his repair. He was down to 11's and 12's at the very end, because as you can guess, his hands hurt!

BB King and SRV can't really be compared - BB King plays slow emotional blues-jazz kind of music, while SRV plays fast, melodic, lively blues-rock kind of music. Sure you can compare them, but they play different music. Music taste is also subjective, e.g. you may not like BB King, but that doesn't mean he's a bad guitarist, you just don't personally like him, but there's people who like him and dislike SRV, it's all a matter of personal taste. However one thing that's true for sure is that they both are great guitarists and overall musicians

Damn, he's got everything dialed in perfectly. That tone is amazing. When i was 15 (1992) i sat down one summer to learn SRV. I wasn't getting too far after countless hours. Then i stumbled upon the key to playing like he did. You have to have no regard for your hands or fingers. You have to play really hard and aggressive. I think that's why so few can't get it down. I think the whole thing about "playing til your fingers bleed" is a myth but after one heavy day of learning SRV my parents made steak for dinner and i couldn't hold my knife and fork, everything was so sore. I couldn't play for a week. He made it look so easy and effortless but it is not. I remember reading once that Stevie would even switch to a lighter gauge string depending on how his fingers were holding up. I could not even dream of coming close to how he sounded but attempting to play his stuff helped open a lot of doors for me in the process of learning.

I'm pretty much sure that those brothers and sister that booed didn't realise what they where witnessing. I was born six year after Steve passed and i love him to this day. Such a feeling, such a vibe, such a confidence, such a rage, such a passion in his in voice and guitar with such an expression. It feels like you get to know him personally just by looking at his face and his hands, his guitasr solos speak to you and his lyrics just simply touch your heart. Love you, Steve

Sammy Grigsby not trying to get into a theological conversation here, but Stevie Ray did this himself through countless hours of hard work and dedication. He deserves the credit. Not god. I just don’t like the phrase “god given”, because it completely ignores the effort that an individual puts in.

What some people don't understand about SRV's magical run is that Blues was out of the mainstream for the most part. It's time was over and more underground. He brought it back to attention, making people see it was still very viable/strong and not going anywhere. SRV is why we have John Mayer now. (I shouldn't have said that watch the insults, but even if you like John or not the fact is that his playing is like 30% SRV influence.)

I can't believe that he might still be alive today, possibly even playing live if things had turned out otherwise. The way his guitar expresses so much more than his voice does is amazing. To have one of the best blues guitarists and singers in one person is genuinely rare. The day he died, the world lost a music hero. He will not easily be forgotten.

Had a SRV moment in San Diego waay back when. He was staying at a small hotel where I was doing some minor renovations. Manager tells me to please keep the noise to a minimum 'cause a VIP was trying to sleep.. I said "...ok as long as you tell me who it is." Manager says it's "...Mr. Fender." I about lost it. We kept the noise down. Later, "Mr. Fender" walks in the unit we were working and says "...boys, just wanna thank y'all for lettin' me sleep" and walks out. Whoa, never forgot that.
