He was self-taught and couldn't read or write music. He played totally by sound and pitch. He was a savant, a phenomenon and is sorely missed by millions who still listen to him today. His music transcends time. People will still be listening to him another 30+ years from now. That's why he is the Greatest Of All Time.

One of my biggest regrets in my entire life is that I never got to see him play live!!! I think I had one opportunity to see him live but I can't remember why I didn't go. It was shortly before he died!!! Like all of his fans, I was so upset when he passed!!!

Of course he practiced it. He played guitar pretty much all day every day. My brother -in-law went to the same high school, and he said he brought his guitar to school every day and fell asleep in class because he’d been playing at clubs half the night. He had amazing natural ability, was taught by his big brother, practiced and played most of the day, took his guitar everywhere, loved it, and went humbly asking the old blues masters to show him things… He got real good. He never ran out of ideas. He never hit a dead end. Music just flowed through him. I was lucky enough to see him play many times in Dallas and Austin.

And as amazing as this performance is, Stevie Ray brought it up to another level when he performed "Life Without You" live at the Capitol Theater in Passaic, NJ in 1985. Let's just put it this way: during his performance on "Life Without You" that night, Stevie Ray lost a tooth. You need to react to it so you can see why he lost a tooth while playing guitar!

Good one! You can't scratch your own back properly, and he plays like that! 😂Steve, needed to find a way to impress the crowd, like JIMI HENDRIX, made it, because STEVE, was, probably, one of the greatest fan of JIMI HENDRIX, who played with their teeth, behind his neck, between his legs, burning his guitar, etc..... But, what you saw that, is, just, what happened to all the greatest guitar heros of history! They're climbing the mountain of their feelings, and when they reach the top, during a concert, then, they can do all what they want! Look at JIMMY PAGE, LIVE AT THE MADISON SQUARE GARDEN 1973, HE'S POSSESSED! LOOK AT JIMI HENDRIX, LIVE AT WOODSTOCK 1969, OR LIVE AT FILLMORE WEST 1968, LIVE AT FILLMORE EAST 1969/ 1970 BAND OF GYPSIES! THE GUY, MADE ALL WATH HE WANTED, ALL WHAT POSSIBLE TO DO WITH A GUITAR! WITHOUT LOOKING AT HIS GUITAR, AND WHAT HE' S PLAYING! Sorry, for the mistakes guys, I'm a French guy, English, isn't my native language! Good reaction! PEACE FROM FRANCE BRO! 👍✌️😂🎸🇫🇷
