SRV - THE G.O.A.T.!!! All due respect to Jimi, Eddie, Eric and the others... (I couldn't wait to see your face when he turned around!! 😅) His brother, who was playing next to him, got a guitar when Stevie was little and he cried and cried wanting one, too. So, whenever his brother was gone, Stevie would sneak in and "borrow" brother's guitar until he was "old enough" for one of his own...

Welcome to the Stevie Ray rabbit hole🎸🎶. This will be a ride you won't ever get off. The more you see and hear the more amazed you will be.. his life story and just what an incredible being he was is the reason why we continue to love him and keep his spirit alive. He used to say about his playing that he played like was breaking out of jail. He was always 100% immersed in the musical River every time. Thank you for your great reaction👏👏‼️🎶🎸🎶

His guitar was just an extension of his body. B.B. King one said “I've said that playing the blues is like having to be black twice. Stevie Ray Vaughan missed on both counts, but I never noticed.” Pretty high praise from a blues legend.

I adore your reaction. And YES to his vocals that delivered the story precisely as it should be told. Cinematic, even. The vocal and guitar are not to be separated. It's one fluid story. He wrangles the guitar with angst, passion, and anger... the fit-throwing, arguing, spitting, cursing, crying, pleading, foot-stomping, begging and weeping... his vocals complete the story with the force you could imagine crying out amidst a thunderstorm.

You mentioned coming out of his Mama playing. His brother was the guitartist when he was growing up & had the gigs. He's great, btw. He had a little guitar with a horse on back. They moved around constantly landing in Texas. Stevie was working all kinds of odd jobs. He found some records in a trash can (promo material). He joined many bands but eventually left them all searching for his own voice. He performed a concert in which he was BOOED off stage BUT guess who heard it? None other than David Bowie. David knew immediately. Skipping forward, Stevie was literally dying from cocaine & alcohol. He DRANK it. He was vomiting blood one day on the sidewalk & the band knew he could go no further. He played 2 more shows & into rehab he went. AA saved his life. He became a whole new man & his playing only got better. Sadly, at the age of 35 after a concert he wanted to get back to the hotel & grabbed a helicopter that wasn't even meant for him. It crashed. The world still mourns the loss of our great SRV. I just know he's up in heaven with Freddie, Neil Peart, Eddie, Jimmy, etc...jamming out. Its a vision that makes my heart smile.

Stevie Ray Vaughan poured everything he had into every performance. He once said, “I want to play as if it is my last performance.“ Unfortunately, one day that happened. He played a show and shortly after he took a helicopter away from the show and it crashed. Killing him and four others. Extremely tragic day. The anniversary of that tragic day just passed on August 27th. He died in 1990.

Stevie is the GOAT. That's just fact. When Al King & BB King see you as an equal you know you've made it as a blues artist. This man's finger tips used to come off & he super glue & keep playing. Please watch "Life Without You" at Capitol Theater. Stevie literally breaks a TOOTH playing. Watch his life story. I wish he had never got on that helicopter. Apparently, God needed his guitarist back.

I don’t use the best word for guitar players as its very subjective and Im not sure what the parameters are. I used to go “Oh yes, thats the best”! But, then I’d hear somebody else and say, “Oh he’s the best”! But, as far as SRV goes, there is nobody better. Randy Rhodes, Ritchie Blackmore & Jimmy Page are in there too. Now I just enjoy and don’t fret over who’s best. Loved the reaction.
