Thank you both for this reaction! You guys never cease to give me the biggest smile ever! And yes, I am an “old schooler” and don’t mind admitting it lol. And I love seeing you youngens react to the great music from back in my time😂. But as always, NO ONE speaks to my heart and soul like SRV ❤️❤️❤️. So I hope you will keep reacting to SRV. You guys are the best!!!❤️

The foot petal Stevie used in this song once belonged to Jimi Hendrix. It was given to him by the Hendrix family.

Stevie was a decade younger than Hendrix and didn’t know him personally, but his older brother Jimmie’s band The Chessmen opened for him a couple of times in Texas, and Jimmie Vaughan was able to give Stevie a pedal that Hendrix had used, which he gratefully put to good use. P.S. It’s fair: any of us lucky enough to remember seeing SRV play is OLD! But I wouldn’t trade those memories.

Great Reaction Guys!!! SRV was the GOAT in my book. Jimi was a badass, but not as clean of a player to me. SRV you can identify the individual notes & tones better I think, but thats my opinion. Keep it up y'all! ❤❤❤ Subscribed!

I was at Stevie Ray Vaughn's last concert the night his helicopter crashed after the show at Alpine Valley, Wisconsin August 26th 1990. The next day was one of the saddest days of my life. The lineup was Eric Clapton, SRV, Robert Cray and Buddy Guy. I'm 63 years old now and it's still one of the best concerts I've ever seen...and I've seen a lot of great ones. RIP SRV!

Fun fact about Stevie is if he covers a song he will take it and make it his own but will honor the original artist that did the song and you was talking about the peddle the one Stevie used once belonged to Jimmy Hendrix his brother Jimmy Vaughan did a tour with Hendrix and the peddle messed up and Jimmy gave him his and got another one for his self then got that one fixed and gave it to Stevie. This is when music was great before auto tune come out.

Jimi made it exciting. Stevie made it musical. Jimi had a tendency to miss notes and play sloppily. Stevie is note for note perfect every time. Technically and musically, Stevie blows Jimi's socks off.

Great reaction Dudes! I love SRV, and I agree that I wish we could see him in person. Maybe one day in Heaven we will cross paths. About the foot pedal, or wah wah pedal. SRV used a Vox v846 that was acquired by Jimmy, Stevie's brother from Jimi Hendrix. Stevie loved Jimi and his style, therefore he covered some of Jimi's songs. He made sure that Jimi's father agreed to him covering Jimi's music. That's the kind of person SRV was. Always considerate towards other people.

Jimi composed it, Stevie made it his own. After all he and brother Jimmy, were friends with Jimi. Stories of sharing the waa-waa pedal. 😉 Btw: it’s creole: voodoo “chile”.

Stevie Ray Vaughan, Austin City Limits, live 81 or 83, Voodoo Child cover the. Greatest blues guitarist and singer, ever! This is a Hendrix cover. Bowie had him play on his Let's dance , album. Then asked him to join his band. SRV turned him down!!😮😮 Greatest guitarist ever!! Died young, leaving the Montreux Jazz Festival, in a terrible helicopter crash. RIP to SRV. U should watch all his Austin City Limits, concerts! Ironically, first time he went to Montreaux, he was booed mercilessly, they felt he wasn't Jazz enough! When he went back in 95, he was treated as the reigning god of the show! And then he died...if u watch just one more of his vids, it should be from this show, Texas Flood! His look, blues voice, guitar ability, showmanship... God purpose built this man to play the Blues! There's been a lot of great guitarists , but combined with his voice, look, presence, voice, showmanship and ability , there's only him. Besides Eddie Van Halens' Frankenstein guitar, this is the most valuable guitar on the planet, and his brother, Jimmy Vaughn, has it! If u asked people for a list of top 20 guitarist all time, most people's would be very similar. But if u said, out of that list, who's complete... stage showmanship, ability, presence, perfect voice to the music, no thinking or delay in his freestyle, song writing, etc., There's only SRV!

Jimi was the creative genius of many songs Stevie did covers of. Just like Jimi, no 2 versions either played live are exactly alike. There was one live version Stevie did that was nearly 100% faithful to Jimi's studio cut, but every performance Stevie did paid homage to one of his greatest inspirations and idols. That being said, in my opinion, Stevie was a much better live performer, but Jimi will always be the pioneer.

I'm a fan of both Jimi and SRV In my opinion Jimi was an innovator nobody ever done some of the things he did with a guitar. SRV was a huge fan of Jimi in fact her used Jimi's original Wah Wah pedal in all of his performances. I think they are both exceptional guitar players but for me I think SRV has a cleaner sound. I think SRV mastered the things(and more) that Jimi was experimenting with. One thing I will say is that I think Jimi would be well impressed with this Version of his song.

I know people like to compare the two. I'm 65, and I know them both very well..There's no comparison, because they're two completely different players..Two completely different animals...So, excuse me for getting a bit annoyed when I hear people comparing them..To me it just seems strange...They're just SO different...Love them both!

Great reaction guys👏‼️. One thing you can count on is Stevie playing the same song differently each time he plays. He is so in the moment it is impossible to recreate. So if you watch Voodoo Chile from Nashville venue, it is loose, he does play behind the back, and my personal favorite version is from his Toyko concert. So if someone requests a song you have already reacted to, trust me, from a different venue it will be different. You were correct about using the foot pedal. Fun fact: his Wah Wah pedal was actually Jimi's pedal. Once Stevie's brother Jimmie and his band the Thunderbirds opened for Jimi in Dallas. Jimi's Wah Wah pedal was broken and he offered his broken pedal and $50 for a working pedal from Jimmie. Jimmie gave it to Stevie. Jimi died at age 27 from addiction in 1970 and Stevie was only 16 but had been listening to his records and learning his songs all along. He was heavily influenced by Jimi. Said he felt his spirit a lot and there is no doubt they were kindred spirits. You guys have only just begun your journey down the Stevie Ray rabbit hole. I will be here for it. You should checkout Tin Pan Alley w/ Johnny Copeland in Montreux for a down and dirty blues classic by two masters💯🎸🎶‼️. Also there is a 15 minute "Soundcheck" that has almost 22 million views and it shows him having just rolled out of bed, yawning and rubbing his eyes. But when he straps in he is swept away and takes us with him. Keep going guys✌️🎸🎶‼️

Obviously we've lost Stevie, but you can see one more Pink Floyd styled show currently. Roger Waters, who wrote most of their music, is currently on tour. His shows feature many of their most famous songs, and the sets have the same epic sort of feel that Pink Floyd shows always had.
