"Stevie was an endless, open channel that music just poured out of. He made people who'd never touched a guitar in their life want to pick one up and start playing, and he made those of us who'd played live onstage with him before want to quit."..............Eric Clapton.
Oh good. You got one his finest Voodoo performances ever. Before his fellow Texans in Austin. living clean and sober. Playing like never before. Awestruck, once again. Chris and Tommy back Stevie like they all came from the same womb at the same time.
It's not just his virtuosity with the guitar, it's his huge imagination to continue to play riff after riff with no repeats or thematic framework. There are other guitarists who can play the same notes as SRV, but they run out of notes to play. He was the Energizer bunny.
RIP Stevie Ray...we did not deserve you, so you went on home. The tears cried over your passing floated you to Heaven and I am still crying every time I see you...
John Mayer said most guitarist couldn't play with this intensity for only a few minutes, SRV played for hrs. He also used 13 gauge strings while most guitarist used 9 gauge strings.
