Something I notice about smooth drummers who have a good sense of musicality, and is especially the case here with teddy, is that their effortless and loose arm movements suggests they have ‘heard’ the phrasing in their head well before they play it. I wouldn’t be surprised if that’s the big difference between the musical and the robotic players
I would say you’re correct. Phrasing is the style of play and style is something you have intuitively and it keeps evolving unconsciously. I think I hear phrasing everyday of my life! 😄❤️
@@teddycampbellband2648 I was going to add that alot of the time, rather than hearing it in advance, you're in a perpetual state of now, in the moment and flow state. Sometimes the best things to play are what comes naturally with no thought at all
Interesting way of looking at a Steppers beat. I don’t think I’ve ever heard anyone refer to it as a 1/2 time shuffle? Great playing no matter what ya call it
@@bubinga_basher That's because of the original. I understand exactly what Jacob is trying to tell there. Stanley Randolph also plays in that kind of feel when live
Ok man I’m not one to get on here and brag but finally someone who gets it! Someone who gets groove! Someone who gets to lay back on that snare and someone who doesn’t have the look at me look at me syndrome! You just got a sub out of me my friend I can’t wait for more.
