@Gary Perkins Dude, you are not talking to your dog after he does a trick. I know I know. it is amazing to find an intelligent comment on RU-vid, but still.
+travis aaron What the fuck is WRONG with you?? Kim O is saying that KIM is seeing Stevie so filled with emotion. You Travis are an empty toddler. You are so screwed up Travis.
I, literally, miss Prince every day since his passing. He was a beautiful, complex and talented being. He wrote all the songs himself, he played every instrument (except horns) and he was unparalleled in his live performances. No special effects, just him and his beautiful gift. I was honored to have seen Prince live 4 times- and one of those was a jazz concert with none of his hits- and it was amazing. He was definitely not like any other singer, writer, director, producer or entertainer like Prince. Rest in peace, Prince of all Music.
In 1978 the first song on Prince's first LP goes......"All of this and more is for you, with love sincerity and deepest care. My life with you I share."...... He kept his promise! Thank-you so much for all the love and memories!! Rest well my Purple Prince!!
+Mike Fix JW's do believe in God- but they are all mixed up (non-Biblical stuff that was twisted and invented by Charles Taze Russell). They even made their own Bible translation using NON-scholars who couldn't even read any of the languages the original texts are in- all this to make it say what they wanted it to to match their inventions. By the way, I am NOT saying anything negative at all about Prince! I do not blame people for being gullible enough to be taken in by cults. It's not really their fault. I mean, they are prone to trust these people blindly and believe this stuff for emotional reasons- not due to lack of intelligence.
+StratMatt777 Life, its a test some say, I think Prince was a very smart person, and he probably had a good quality of life, enjoyed his life, the Jehova part may have brought life balance, settled some guilt and was a vehicle to good beliefs. I believe in a God because there is no logical explanation for life, the explanations for life are more equal in there fantasy, explosion from nothing that expands and creates life on the fragments of nothingness...okay...well thats not scientific when you try to talk about the before big bang theory.
Have it now I agree with every word you said. I also believe in God and His name probably is Jehovah or Yahweh. The name "Jehovah" is not the part of the Jehovah's Witness theology that is so messed up and ridiculous. BANG! God said it and... "bang"! :) While we do know that animals are connected to each other, believing that the random beneficial mutations of natural selection created changes that improved animals and that then this unguided, unintelligent force then wrote these changes to the DNA code is believing in man-made fairy tales (which violate the laws of science). The faithful natural selection believers here on youtube tend to be quite vehement in their attacks on people of other faiths. Oh, the irony!
The white liberal never gave a F....as long as black & brown indigenous played the part. You're in your lane. Cooper showed his colors here. When your in pain? That's when you're supposed entertain.
man i loved prince, but seeing stevie in that amount of pain,i just want to give him a hug,and i"m a 50 yr old dad from the u.k...respect to both of you,
Anderson was so cold in this interview... poor Stevie. I grew up listening to Prince's music. He was an incredibly intelligent musical genius who broke so many boundaries. Rest in Purple, Prince Rogers Nelson. The doves are crying for you.
+Delaney Loves Louis I guess sometimes you can't say too much to someone grieving lest you make them cry. Stevie Wonder probably just wanted to share positive memories . . . not be reduced to tears ???
I'm not trying to be rude or disrespectful at all, But tbh prince wasn't really humble, He was full of himself, You cannot even compare him to stevie or michael when talking about humbleness.
I noticed a difference in Stevie. When the interview first began, he was a bit choked up, but as he spoke more and more about his friend & his music, he smiled so much as though Prince was standing right there, alive & well. I'm sure that was somewhat therapeutic to Stevie.
Stevie is my hero. He is, out of all the people I have never actually met in my life, the most important person in my life. Seeing him devastated like this, it just pains me to the core. RIP Prince
We need real people like Stevie to protect his legacy before the media garbage takes over. God bless him. You can see his pained and alleviated to talk about his music. Dumb question at the end. Cooper looks like a robot..wtf? Thank you Stevie.
+Surf board Consider the fact that he's been around for quite some time by mere age alone at 65. As you gain the years, the list of those you may lose that you know, and know of, grows.
Like him or loathe him, Paul McCartney is an absolute powerhouse genius. Elton John is a musical genius. There are quite a few very relevant, genius musicians and artists still walking today. I understand your sentiment, but I feel like it's an emotion-charged comment in light of recent events.
+Cam Allen I was referring to soul and R&B music my friend. I have nothing against Paul or especially Elton,Elton is my dude. I agree about them as far as the term "musical genius" I mean performer singer song writer musician producer composer arranger of good music. I don't use that term loosely, there are plenty good even great artist and even musicians that's correct. As far as relevant I don't like to use that term I think that depends on how big an influence one had and how many others they inspired and or play a part in their success,no matter how old or long ago they lived. Michael was incredible but he wasn't what these guys are/were. After the 70s the music changed the popularity of live bands and musicians declined. For instance Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis and Babyface(they are musicians) are incredible, but I can't say they're musical geniuses on the level of those above some may disagree. Some may include R.Kelly he's also an incredible artist. The guys I just named used drum machines and things but they are no less incredible. My statement wasn't to take anything away from anybody but to give examples of how high the bar is set...
+Cam Allen Of the two you mention can the play all of the instruments that Stevie and Prince could?? Have they made albums (plural) where they paled all of the instruments like Stevie or Prince?? I will agree that they are gifted writers and musicians on their instruments but not the "musical genius" on the level of Stevie& Prince. We can agree to disagree.
I'm not ashamed to say I cried when I found out prince had passed away. I remember listening to prince with both of my parents who were huge fans and really gaining my admiration and love of his music from them. I would literally watch purple rain every weekend with my best friend. prince is one in a million he was more in it for the music moreso than for fame. when you have a legend like stevie wonder that has that much respect for your craft championing for you it speaks to the kind of person prince was. RIP prince.
This interview broke my heart. Prince was truly loved not only as an amazing musician and entertainer but a good friend and mentor. May he rest in peace #PurpleReigns
The rawness of pain in Stevie Wonder (as with many of us) is extremely evident. The loss of Prince is pain beyond words. And yet, I absolutely love what Stevie said in remembering Prince: "It's always great when we don't allow fear to put our dreams asleep; and he didn't."
2018 and I still miss Prince. I will always miss Prince and continue to be inspired by his music. God bless you, Stevie Wonder. Thank you for speaking so eloquently in your time of grief.
+TheFreedd +1 i waited all this time to watch this thinking i'd be able to handle it now finally but hat part had me sobbing. i'm still so upset he's died. so very upset.
"He was very free- and to do what he did without fear was a wonderful thing.Because it is always great when we don't allow fear to put our dreams to sleep. And he didn't".
+quillber He seems so incredibly genuine, something that is all too rare. He was speaking from his heart, and you could feel his pain. I want to reach out and hug him. If when I pass away if anyone could speak of me in this way I would feel like I succeeded in life.
+Christopher Fea I've wanted to be friends with Stevie ever since I was a little girl and he was around the age of my parents. I swore I'd marry Michael or Prince, all of my childhood friends thought the same. None of us got the chance :-(
Authentic. Sadness at the loss of his friend and genius musician, but when he talks about the album "Purple Rain", the joy of the memories he will hold dear. Wonderful man, Stevie.
Great and heartfelt interview from one genius about another. I grew up on Stevie's music and Prince was a couple of years my senior so when he burst on the scene me and my siblings were right there so.... Prince a brilliant mind, musician, dancer, dresser.
Reporters got that bad, like wtf, They Always Making Amateur moves like that, There is a code for reporters that you juz don’t break when it comes to musicians.. Dumb move
Crying again. watching Stevie cry just set me off again. Earlier in the day I had just been telling a friend about some of my Prince escapades , stories from the past. Later on that day I heard radio announcers speaking about Prince after playing his music and I thought I had mis-heard them speak in the past tense. Until I realized it was being said over and over. Terrified, - I cried out loud from my car window "Why are they speaking about Prince in the past tense ? What the hell is going on??? WTF ?!?" I sobbed my way all the way to work (thank God I work alone). I have the same passion about music as any true musician does which is why I loved him so much.
Ikr how heartless can u be I get it u are a reporter and all but dude really u want him to entertain u while he is hurting. Some people will never know the pain of losing a close one until it happens to them.
Conceited Reality DO you know ME???? NO so how can u call me closed minded! IDC about what ur saying so stfu and dont come for me unless i send for u. You lowlife
Stevie you speak from the heart with wisdom and integrity! Blessings to you and my prayers go out to Prince's family and friends during this difficult time!
+Music For The People There's a very moving video of the night he stopped his show to announce the death of John Lennon. He was on a tour with Gil Scott-Heron -- you can see the grief in both of them as Stevie delivers the sad news.
I know yall. I been playing his music all week..wow what a genius...I can hear certain songs, especially in the late 70s & 80s...remember where I was...lots of dancing at college, singing in my car & always excited when he put new music out. R.I.P. my sweet purple 💜 angel.
+Careem Smith Seeing Stevie cry made me cry. People use the word genius far too often and very loosely when they refer to musicians, especially rappers. Prince and Stevie are certified geniuses.
+Tony Marinelli Yes..I'm sitting here tearing up when Stevie starts crying! I still can't believe he's gone..a part of me is having a hard time accepting it. We really lost a true musical genius..amazing artist! One of a very small group..Stevie's the only one left now! I'm a HUGE Prince fan and I'm gonna miss him like crazy! I was hoping to see him in concert again! R.I.P. you're Purple Majesty..you will be greatly missed!❤😘😥
soblu802 What really hurts for me, I am a musician and I have toured with many, many well known artists. Unfortunately, talent is a rare commodity these days. I have toured with some people in the last 5 years, well known artists, strictly for the money and every night while on stage I mentally shook my head in disbelief at how the bar has been grossly lowered in the last 20 years.
"Its always great when we don't allow our fears to put our dreams to sleep" WOW! Words to certainly live OUT LOUD by.. Thank you Stevie Wonder.. R.I.P. Prince
Very few media personalities want to go into the meat of Prince's contributions. Some of us aren't even conscious of it, but we love Prince because he authentically and honestly merged things that many forces are striving to keep apart - "white music" and "black music", sex and love, masculine and feminine. People are envious of his incredible ability to say "this is who I am, this what I believe" when it blurred so many cultural lines. BIG cultural lines. He was a symbol for unity.
Stevie Wonder, Just as you and your music lifted my spirits up while living in foster homes during the 1970s, Prince music did too. I know you are hurting now, breaks my heart to see you on the verge of crying, but know that he had God and truly loved God, so I find peace in my heart wanting to cry also but knowing that Prince is in heaven probably jammin out some tune on the guitar to Jesus and Jesus is snapping his fingers to the beat with that same big beautiful smile I so often see on your face. Love you Stevie.
+Phillip Phillips So damn true. And surprising, because Cooper wasnt always like this before. It seems he has lost it now being out of touch with people completely.
Prince has been my "Man Crush" since I was a teenager. He is and always will be one of the greats!!!You may be gone, but you will forever touch us through your wonderful music. Loving Prince and Mr. Stevie Wonder today.
I Just Called To Say I Love (You)- Stevie Wonder was the first encounter I saw him, in person, at a (kind of stuffy) nightclub in New York City's-Regine's on Park Avenue back maybe just before 1988 as he seemed to just come out from the attendees there and just started to sing, "I just called to say I love you" maybe in January and the second time sometime after that, in concert I attended at Radio City, NY. Stevie also performed/sang Johnny Kemp's "Just Got Paid". I had pretty good seats and that was my big mouth singing loudly, "Just Got Laid!" at that very concert and I believed Stevie Wonder actually heard me and felt my enthusiasm and changed the lyric's have-way through the song to "form" with me. Stevie Wonder has an amazing talent, besides the obvious, to feel and experience what others feel, and I reciprocate the same. His concerts are worth it, by far. What a wonderful soul, heart and music. Oh, by the way, Stevie if you are listening, the next time you go to France, take me and my son with you for a more personable experience. I believe, I can explain to you, exactly what I see and how it makes me feel. We are not French (yet, maybe), but the Americans don't know that since we can speak the language there. I am told by the French that my teenager son speaks with no American accent and he has, according to a (near) musical piano doctorate that he has perfect pitch. Do you mentor? He just needs a little more confidence. Which brings me to my point of you are "so right-on" quote... "Someone that allowed himself to be himself, and encouraged others to be themselves, and he was very free and to do what he did, without fear, was a wonderful thing because, it is always great, it is always great, when we don't allow fear, to put our dreams to sleep, and he didn't." ~Stevie Wonder ...Well said!!! I love you. I was dreaming when I wrote this, so forgive me if it goes astray ~Prince and tonight, me too, how true! Thank you for your time. Mi
We love you Stevie and Prince! Two very talented music legends! Rest in peace Prince, I hope you're resting peacefully in heaven! I love you Prince and you'll be missed!
