It's probably been noted somewhere in the comments, but the captured guide rod option makes a night and day difference in disassembly/reassembly. I think the STI Edge is incredible as are the CZ products. For those that have shot 1911's for years will find the 2011 right at home. :)
It is amazing how others think they can review a pistol with just 200 to 300 rounds and get a good feeling of what it’s doing ( accuracy reliability etc ) but you Big J you do it right 1500 rounds outstanding my man . It builds credibility with your viewers . Commitment to the truth about the gun . I have 2500 flawless rounds thru the Staccato now and am pleased with it , but keep in mind it’s not perfect . I have Dan Wesson Ecp in 9mm that stacks up the sti in all categories but is more accurate. Keep up the good work Big J
Goodness, that sucker looks awesome!! I've been looking at getting a 2011, looking at the STI TTI combat master. They are sold out, so then I was looking at the G34 combat master. I'd really like to get one, but I want to get the right one.
I've got the same issue with most 1911s and 2011s I've handled. I've handled a few that are super comfortable for my hands but they are 2-3 times the price of that STI.
Nice Big J. Was down in your area last week visiting Carrollton for work. Looks like I convinced the boss to let me move back to TX so later this year I am leaving the POS state of CT and moving to TX to work out of Carrollton. I sure look forward to living in a free state again. I lived north or Austin 7 years ago and man I miss TX.
Great looking STI brother! It’s odd about the ergos around the beavertail and thumb safety. Seems like all of their guns have the need for some refinement.
Beautiful pistol brother. I have the Staccato P and I have the same issue with the grip around the beaver-tail and the safety. Very uncomfortable grip around that area. But, what an amazing shooter. The slide movement is glass and for me, incredibly accurate. Not sure if it’s a keeper or not due to how uncomfortable it is to shoot - for me. Thanks for the video and cheers!
That really sucks you have that beaver tail issue. This would be my luck. If I spend that much and have an issue I will flip. I have had enough problems with my Dan Wesson custom 1911 ,,that costs a little more. I have no confidence in STIs customer service. My friends have had bad luck with that.
I have a 2011 STI Edge and absolutely love the gun. I have had mine for several years, shot many competitions with it with no problems. My hands are only medium size and the gun fits me very well. I have never experienced any of the problems you have encountered. I also have an STI Trojan 1911 which too is a fantastic shooter. I think STI makes some of the best guns you can buy. Enjoy!

Wrong pistol to be running minor, and if you did get the pistol in 40 to run limited major power factor, the forward barrel/slide weight make a huge difference to hold you on target. In minor at 125mpf to run class legal minor, will find that the forward weight that make is work so well in 40 at MPF, just hinders you isntead. As for palm safety, you hit the nail on the head, and its begin causes by the grip too small for you to begin with. Hence if you ordered the rig from Dawson as one of their built edge rigs, then could have have the grip swapped to one that is better to suit you from the start a little extra cost, instead of trying to live with a smaller grip that does not fit you isntead. As for safety not beveled correctly, should have sent it back to STI to have it blended better from the start. Lastly, there is the stock Edge from STI, then the custom Edge that Dawson produces as a better model for comp use. Granted that is a few hundred more, it worth the up-cost, since all the problems that you ran into on the stock edge, would not have been a problem on the Dawson edge instead (ordered it with the parts that you want/needed from the start).
A lot of 1911 Commanders have the same full length guide rod requiring a bent paperclip to diassemble, I don't like it! Big J, to me it appears the cons out-weighed the pros? Great video! Best to ya',,,,!
Big J, Thank you,, help me out. I am a big CZ guy, I have been struggling with whether to save up and buy one of the STI 2011s. They look awesome but I hear so many bad things. I have tricked out Shadow 2s and a TSO. I don't want to spend a the money on one and not be satisfied. I have a very expensive Dan Wesson custom shop and I'm a little disappointed in it for the money I spent. An STI would be my first 2011. What's your personal opinion or personal advice to me?

Great custom gun but can’t flip the mag release. Don’t understand why the high dollar custom jobs are not more lefty friendly. I will buy one when they make one fully ambidextrous. I want one badly but if I’m gonna spend that kind of money mag release should be ambidextrous or able to flip.
9mm? slap a 10# recoil spring in it and it will run even better. with the long dust cover its easier to just take the top off with the recoil spring compressed. after the top is off use your thumb to press the recoil rod forward and then put the pin in.
I don’t think I will get rid of it, but I have a lot of other projects going on right now. I’ll let you know if anything changes. Thanks for Watching, Carry On
