Great stuff and way to further the community. However, it seems easier to just add limited slips to fr and rr diffs in the WRX. Probably just as much work and labor, but all work is under the car.
I'd agree with you, this is one of my favorite mods to the car allover. Even if it was optional from the factory that would have been amazing oh well have to see what they do to the 2021 STi
I can’t wait for you to start posting again. I want to follow your footsteps. Did you ever consider just buying a salvaged sti on auction? I feel like there would be money savings with that route when you consider the drivetrain and brembo swap alone.
Nice Work! I think i did hear about Subaru doing a FA20 STI, S208 i think. Seemed more like a experimental track vehicle. Might be a while till i get my Transmission swap done. I'm thinking about swapping the rear diff with a Suretrac r160 gear LSD in the mean time.
@@nosubswrx Yeah, True. $5k compared to $300 though. My brembos are in transit. My 2015, 5 year old car only has 40k miles. How many miles did your have when your tranny blew, was it a hard dump into 4th? You going to swap the center console/ Shift boot interior with the STI?
Too bad wrx’s are so damn expensive to build compared to other cars. I would love to do a sti swap from the transmission back and have a built fa20. But thinking about the cost is just hurting my head. Might just have to save up for an evo. But I love your wrx man!
@@brendanfogel4573 in what aspect? just regular bolt-ons, sure. but when you're talking about upgrading drivetrain, having to do port-injection (secondary injection setup and motec), building the motor, you're looking at close to $40K in mods (that's not even including the regular bolt-ons that I'm assuming you'd already have on the car before going through with this route). Versus if you had bought an STI, you're already running port injection and an STI drivetrain. Just a port injection setup alone on the WRX costs $5.5-6K, that's not including the Motec and Wiring harness for $7K. A closed-block is also another $18K. STI Drivetrain costs about $4-7K give or take.
You'll want to watch the video after this one for wing details. www.newprovisionsracing.com/collections/15-wrx-exterior-accessories/products/olm-s208-s209-style-spoiler-gloss-black-15-20-wrx-sti
It really depends on where and how much you can the transmission swap from. Shops charge from $1500 to $2200 for install. These swaps arent cheap and you'll look at $6000-$8000 or more depending on the parts you want for it.
surprised there's no auto/manual mode switch for the dccd... iv'e heard some people going with an aftermarket dccd controller that completely blows their minds lol. you can look into that if youre interested but im glad to see more of these becoming more and more common.
I should have bought the DCCD Spider iWire Kit that has both optional auto and manual controllers for the console in one complete kit. It’s not terrible to have the manual only option but would suggest the DCCD Spider iWire Kit now that I’ve driven the car more.
@@nosubswrx Looks like that's right, the DCCD spider just has its own gyro, processors and taps into the existing sensors. i was thinking that Stock had a static map.
I saw a video where a RA cluster was installed and everything that was flashing was disabled or it looked like the bulbs were removed. I highly doubt baders cluster is 100% functional with the error lights working. The rpm and speed gauges might work but if everything isn’t working on the console, it’s just for show and not a mod I’ll be doing.
@@nosubswrx so you plan to go to a stage block or what? I'm just not sure I'd chip that much cash into driveline swap unless I planned to work with the IAG 2.5 + block... whats the point? my stock block stage3+FF rips and grips with a stage 2 street clutch, boomba short shift, boomba plate and perrin bushings and shift stop. Just not sure I understand the logic here unless you're planning 450+torque to the gears.
The route I took it was very expensive. If someone else is on a budget a STi swap would cost from 6-8k depending if your able to do it yourself or not.
